How much do you buy digitally on Nintendo platforms?

Postby Valay » Thu Jan 17, 2013 10:31 pm

So Nintendo is starting to take a big interest in releasing retail games on the eShop. Pretty much all Wii U games are available digitally, and the same mostly goes for the 3DS as well.

How many of you are actually buying retail games digitally? Me? 0.

For me, the reasoning is two-fold: a) Nintendo needs an account system. I can't see myself even thinking about this until accounts are in place. b) I tend to like having discs/cards... just because.

What about you?

I also prefer physical item and, because of that, I very very rarely buy digital games. If the games are also offered at retail, I'll always buy the retail version.

The only digital games I have bought are megaman 9 and megaman 10 on the wii because I love the megaman games on the NES.

I also "bought" fluidity with club nintendo coins. I don't believe I'd buy the sequel with cash, but I would certainly "buy it" with coins if it is offered as a club nintendo reward.

I've bought my fare share of random DSiware and Wiiware when they were first introduced (it helped that the cereal I ate would give me $10 credit for every 3 or 4 boxes I ate) and some virtual console games. I've then got some eshop games that are non-retail that are actually know like Trine 2 and Pushmo. I've never bought a full game digitally on a nintendo platform before.

The only reason I'd buy a game digitally on a Nintendo platform because if I want to get something at launch it's usually cheaper to buy it from the Irish eShop than Australian retail. I really wish eShop games would go on sale more often, though.

I generally prefer having a physical copy, but I like the fact that there's no physical evidence that I own New Style Boutique (except for the 3DS itself and every second post I've made on this forum).

Because the Australian one is more expensive, as is the British one. If I use the Irish store I can use euros without worrying about whether the game will be in English or not.

Indie goodness (Limbo, LostWinds) mostly. Nintendo would have to make digital retail titles significantly cheaper digitally if they want to persuade me; so far, they're significantly more expensive than Amazon, lol.

I've never done it but I may for indie goodies as well. I've always wanted to play Mighty Switch Force and Mighty Milky Way Galaxy.

I buy the odd game here or there but only if it's a game that's on a really good sale or I can't get physically. I prefer actually having the gane in my hand rather than downloaded onto a console.
