Been playing Super Paper Mario, haven't beaten a Paper Mario game. Man, the writing's so good... it's kind of a shame there's no voice acting cause it can be a little tricky to convey personalities through text. Love the baddies, very reminiscent of the M&L series.

I'm more into platformers than RPGs but I'm definitely playing the Paper Mario RPGs too I've already got the Gamecube one (supposedly one of the best GC games)

Is it just me or is there something a little... off about playing gamecube games on your Wii? I'm likely to sell my Wii and buy a Wii U, keeping my GC for the GC games.

Man, Nintendo can write so well when they want to. Super Paper Mario cracks me up all the time. I'm in the geek level in SPM right now, having to change into Princess Peach because the nerd will only allow "super hot babes" in. Hi-technicaaaaal.

Why on earth are none of these Mario RPG baddies in SSBM. Bleck or Fawful, or even some of their henchmen, would work really well.

EDIT: I'm now playing a dating sim in SPM. Peach going full-on tsundere. Oh Nintendo.

Ha, well the games has its flaws but there's some great writing in it. Also I tried editing my post but it seems you can't edit your post after a while. What's up with that

Too MUCH great writing perhaps. I remember there was SO much reading to do. I don't know if I could do a full play-through of that again just because of the reading.

it's pretty easy to skip through text but there's no cutscene skip button, I believe, which sucks. Yes, there's too much text. But I do go out of my way to read some of it -- like the nerdy lizard guy with a house full of geeky otaku/anime/videogame references

I've got absolutely no problem with reading in games; 999 is my favorite DS game, after all. I felt the platforming system was inferior to the fantastic turn-based combat system of the RPG Paper Marios, but I still enjoyed the game for the writing.

I feel SPM has too many bad moments to get anywhere near a 10 though, I just did the first 2 levels in Space. The first was a space-shooter, except that it was really boring and an unnecessary maze. Then the level after when you got all the way to the end, you just had to backtrack to the start without anything special happening. Seemed a bit silly, they could've just teleported you.

I also feel there's a bit of a bad balance: It's not fast-paced enough to be a platformer, you constantly have to switch to 3D and back (and sometimes search the levels with the pointer too) to feel like you're getting 80% out of the levels they put in. It does have a ton of quirkyness, lots of interesting baddies and variety though. But I'd say this is a case of "jack of all trades, master of none".

Mass Effect, finally. But no, problems just won't stop. It crashes during dialogue scenes, WTF? I guess I'll have to quicksave more often. :/

^Makes me just want to get the physical copy. It's a shame that EA is putting you through this much trouble.
