Frozenbyte interested in bringing future games to Wii U, Splot a possibility

Trine developer Frozenbyte is working on a new project called “Splot”. For now, the game is only scheduled to arrive on iOS, Android, PC, Mac, and Linux. There’s also a possibility of Splot coming to Wii U.

According to Frozenbyte marketing manager Julius Fondem, bringing Splot to Nintendo’s console would require “a lot of technical work” because the team isn’t using the same technology that powered Trine 2: Director’s Cut. But if Splot is successful, Frozenbyte may feel more inclined to bring it to Wii U, and the studio is certainly thinking about the possibility.

Fondem also confirmed that Frozenbyte “would definitely want to bring our future titles to the Wii U.”

“We would definitely want to bring our future titles to the Wii U. With Splot though the situation is a bit more complex as the technology we’re using isn’t the same as for Trine 2: Director’s Cut, so there’s a lot of technical work in getting Splot running on “high end” consoles like the Wii U. We are pushing as hard as we can to get Splot out on iOS, Android and computer platforms first. Depending on Splot’s success, we’ll see about other platforms. So, we haven’t decided on the Wii U for Splot yet, but it is something we’re considering.”
