HDD possible on Wii through homebrew workaround

Nintendo announced back in October that a Wii storage solution was on the way, but not in the form of a hard drive. Chances are, the company will never allow Wii owners to be able to officially connect a hard drive to the Wii. So that’s where the homebrew community comes in.

Matrix has partially revealed their newest creation, the WiiZii. The device is a plug and play mod that allows an SATA HDD mechanism to be connected to the Wii. In the meantime, fast loading of ISO and homebrew files on the Wii are also possible. The kit comes with 2Mbit of memory and perhaps most significant is that the firmware can receive updates easily and will be updated in the future. If you’re looking for a Wii HDD, as you can probably tell, this might be one of the best chances you’ll get to use one on the Wii.
