    Up and up they go

    • Spice’71

      …Where they’ll stop, nobody knows.

  • Thomas_NE

    Nice.

Even today everyone in the office has been talking about Switch. That never happened with the Wii U, it’s very Wii-like. I’m optimistic!

  • R.Z.

So Nintendo did manage to increase shipments of Switch consoles for the release of MK 8 !
I guess they are still sold out though ?

    • Usama Notkani

Yes I feel if stock was there it could have done 100k+

  • Stuart

    Nintendo right now:

    • TDude73

      U know it, bruh…

    • Exposer

I dont like WW or Rap, but that song is pretty awesome

      • Hugrazy

Well then you like rap :/

        • Exposer

You like a Justin Beiber song…That makes you a fan of Beiber or his music?

          • Hugrazy

No, but Justin Beiber is a lot more specific than “rap” in general. If I discovered a song that I liked for a genre that I thought I hated, considering how expansive a single genre of music can be, my first thought would be “Huh. Since I like this song, I’m sure I’d like a few more out there in the literal tens of thousands of other songs in the same genre. Guess I don’t hate this kind of music after all”

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me but claiming you hate an entire category of music even after discovering that you like a song in that very same category,(a category that I’m sure you have a very small sample size of considering you actively avoid it), seems kind of…Silly.

          • C_Ali88

            burned.

  • Exposer

    Nintendoom since 1886.

    • TDude73

Dr. Smith was right after all.

  • Alexandre Nepomuceno

When Splatoon 2 hit the shelves the Switch’s sales will break the ceiling on Japan, brace yourselves! Nintendo gonna kill 2017!

    • Spice’71

      500k first week

  • Usama Notkani

Hopefully ARMS kills it as well and switch gets another 70k+ week with ARMS

    • Bradley

Hmmmm don’t really know about ARMS, I mean I’m hopeful but there just isn’t much shown enough to make an impact I think

  • nekoknight

I will wait until we have Media Create sales to post total hardware sales numbers.

    • Jon Turner

When will Media Create post their numbers?

      • Stuart

It will not post this week since it’s Golden Week in Japan (A bunch of holidays mixed together). They will probably get back to work only next week.

  • awng781

Wii U sales the week before MK8 launched: 9,024
Wii U sales the week of MK8’s launch: 19,312
Mario Kart 8 launch sales: 325,892

Switch sales the week before MK8D launched: 48,694
Switch sales the week of MK8D’s launch: 74,217
    Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s launch sales: 280,229

    • Jon Turner

How can MK8D have a lower debut in Japan than the original on WiiU? That doesn’t make sense.

      • Jacob Groves

due to stocks!!! Must be. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s too early since Switch just launched 2 months now.

        • Jon Turner

Probably. It could explain things. Not that I’m worried or anything.

      • awng781

Wii U install base as of May 2014: 1.7 milliom

        Switch install base: 700,000

      • ben

Different install base. The Switch install base is more likely to buy digitally. More 20-30 year old men in the switch install base. Less parents.

  • GoldenTriforce

Anyone have a new number for Switch sales LTD?

    • theFooFighter

      Around 775,000

      • GoldenTriforce

Oh dang, I was hoping it would hit 800k this week

        • Tlozbj

It could, we have to wait till Media Create, which is considered the superior tracker, and they usually hold some discrepancies when it comes to Nintendo systems.

  • I seriously think both ARMS and Splatoon 2 will sell like wild in Japan. If Nintendo can get more stock out there, I think Switch sales will be high all summer long.

  • Daniel Brayack

I’d like to have a personal talk with the 184 people who bought Wii Us. Probably so they could play BOTW

    • theFooFighter

I’m more focused on the 68 people that bought a xb1 last week

      • AquaBat

Shhhh, all of those were secretly Phil Spencer using Japanese proxies

        • theFooFighter

It’s not even that it’s just Phil Spencer in sun glasses a hat and fake mustache going around japan buying xb1’s

  • Even more Switch sales than last week. Nice.

  • Jacob Groves

AWESOME!!!!! Ouch Horizon Zero Dawn out of charts. Hahahahahahahahahaha Sony ahahahahahahahahahahaha. Well done to Japanese gamers for giving to Sony lots of middlefingers for Horizon Zero Dawn. Lmfao. ๐Ÿ˜€

    Sony crying!!!

Mario Kart is king of Japan. ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Martin Sรธrensen

      Why is this so funny?

      • Jacob Groves

It is cos Horizon Zero Dawn start slowdown and drops the sells meanwhile Zelda continue sells like crazy. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

    • GoldenTriforce

Japanese charts aren’t the best implication of a Western game’s success

  • GoldenTriforce

The top 30 showed that FFXV still hasn’t hit 1 million yet. I still think that Square Enix missed out on a lot of necessary sales in Japan by not porting to the Switch.

    • Gregory Weagle

Well; that would depend if FFXV could even be put on Switch without taking a hit in performance engine wise. Don’t get me wrong; the logic makes sense in a money sort of way, but if the Switch cannot handle FFXV; then it won’t matter. I suppose you could argue that SquareEnix would have been better served to not overshoot the PS4 just to claim how creative they are, but eh.

      • GoldenTriforce

If it can run on Xbox One, with a bit of work it could probably run similarly on the Switch docked, and due to the size of the switch screen, they could probably get it to look decently undocked even if they lower the resolution, texture quality, lighting, etc. slightly.

    • theFooFighter

It has nothing to do with it being on the switch or not. Ff15 tries to chase after a Western audience so it’s sales dropped over there

      • GoldenTriforce

Oh yeah, most certainly that, but the declining popularity of home consoles and the low sales of PS4 in Japan didn’t help

  • jwfurness

Well, Nintendo is just dominating Japan, now aren’t they?

    • Gregory Weagle

I’m disappointed this week. I thought Switch would have done over 100,000 units hardware and 500,000 units of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. But that’s just me. I mean; the system outsold everyone combined for the second week in a row; although it’s a little less impressive than last week when Switch didn’t have anything released at all.

      • jwfurness

I guess I was making note of 8 of the top 10 software slots going to Nintendo. I think that’s pretty impressive.

        • Gregory Weagle

Nintendo has been doing that for years in Japan, even when Wii U was being a rock bottom failure.

To be fair to Nintendo on my last post; I have no idea how many systems were shipped for that week, so that might have been a factor as well.

      • R.Z.

They can only sell as much as they manage to produce.
The sales potential is there, the stock isn’t.

  • awng781

    2nd Month hardware sales:

    3DS (April 2011): 127,000
    Wii U (January 2013): 62,000
Switch (April 2017): 203,000 (still sold out)

This should put an end to any “Switch is a Wii U 2” claims.
