More females, children purchasing 3DS following price drop

The 3DS price drop has been followed by an uptick in purchases from the female and children demographic according to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. This information is based on data collected from Club Nintendo and other sources.
More females have shown great interest in the 3DS due to the Misty Pink release. Club Nintendo stats indicate that over 75% of the color’s consumers were purchased by women. It’s also interesting to note that a majority of 3DS owners purchased Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D with their handheld, but most Misty Pink purchasers picked up nintendogs + cats instead.
Iwata told investors on Friday that many children will receive a 3DS as birthday or Christmas presents. A large number of kids will additionally use New Years money to purchase the system. Nintendo has a positive outlook on the holiday season due to this, as well as other factors.
