Nintendo Everything survives its first year

Posted on October 22, 2008 by (@NE_Brian) in Site updates

Wanted to save this post after all of the big news of the day was posted. This is a pretty big day for Nintendo Everything, as you can probably guess! Make sure you check out Malinko’s post about a site redesign from yesterday. And before I forget, I’ll have a site update on the weekend….Keep your eyes open for that!

——————–

Okay, that title might have been a bit over-the-top. But yes, Nintendo Everything “officially” turns one today. Even though the site has technically been up for a little more than a year, I consider that, a year ago today, the site really began.

I’ve been mulling over what to write for awhile. It’s difficult for me to gather my thoughts, especially since so much has happened over the past 365 days. I mean, a lot has happened in terms of both the website and in the gaming world. We’ve seen the release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, and tons of other amazing titles. We went through Nintendo’s disappointing E3 conference, only to be blown away with their October events. Third-party titles such as The Conduit have given us some hope for the future and we went through the announcement of the DSi. And that barely touches the surface!

Site-wise, things were pretty much golden. In some ways, I wish the site had “expanded” even more so than it has in just a year, which I realize might be greedy and I should be content with what I have. Then again, I honestly hope that Nintendo Everything continues to grow. There have been a few bumps and hitches down the road, but overall (again), I’d say things have been pretty good.

I can’t even begin to explain the amount of time and effort I’ve put into the site, but I truly believe that every second has been worth it. In a year, I’ve posted over 2000 news stories (definitely not record-setting, but I think it’s more than others!) in addition to a few features here and there. I have to admit that at times, it can be tough, because a one-man team (more or less) is pretty difficult to cope with, especially when you try to consolidate hours of time on the website with real-life activities. I wish I had written more original content (reviews, etc…Basically, not just news), but trying to balance the site with other necessities is overwhelmingly difficult. It’s something that I’ll try to strive for, especially since you guys deserve it!

Before I stretch this on too long, I need to give a few shoutouts. First and foremost, I really thank Malinko for all of his behind-the-scenes work at Nintendo Everything. He makes sure everything runs smoothly around here and whenever there’s a problem, he does his best to immediately fix it. He also has been thinking of new and exciting ways to build upon the foundation of the site.

Also, I wish to thank previous staff members who have contributed to Nintendo Everything, especially Jackson. Jackson provided the initial inspiration for Nintendo Everything, although unfortunately, he is no longer part of the team. Regardless, without his idea, this place wouldn’t even be around!

Bulerias, who previously was a staff member on The Bell Tree was a huge help in answering all of my silly questions and really gave me a lot of insight about websites and whatnot right when the site was a few weeks old.

Lastly, but most importantly, I HAVE to thank you guys, the readers. I know offhand that Nintendo Everything doesn’t have the largest viewership out there, even for a Nintendo website (although I am very satisfied with how far things have come in just a year). However, I hope, as I said previously, that Nintendo Everything will continue to grow and improve over the years. I’ve been really grateful that some of you have begun to comment in some of the posts, and I hope that continues (some others out there should join in too! We won’t bite!) I also encourage anyone who is a visitors to join our forums. A community aspect of the site is definitely important to me, and perhaps to some of you as well. I don’t express how much I value every visitor who comes here, mainly because I feel that you guys wanted the latest updates and that’s all (let me know if I’m wrong!) But in the end, you guys are the most important aspect about Nintendo Everything. Without you guys, this site would be nothing! Nothing I tell you! So again, a HUGE thanks to every reader who comes here, and a happy hello to those who are new to the site!

I still plan on continuing the “posting horde” that I do every day and I will try my best to provide everyone with the best Nintendo coverage. I don’t have any intentions of stopping anytime soon. Remember, our second language is Nintendo++!
