Update: Square Enix released a trailer for the remaster:

Original: A remaster of the classic SNES JRPG Romancing SaGa 2 is coming to the Switch. Launching worldwide on December 15th, it’s based on the release of the game on mobile platforms from last year, which was the first time the game received an official English translation. The Switch version will feature improved controls.

Did you even read the Article?

      • Ailan Hidaz

Does the article specifically say it’s not the mobile remaster? Does it say it’s an entirely new remaster?

  • Bart

Well that’s a nice surprise, but I won’t be done with XC2 by next week…

If these are the kind of mid-tier games that SE was talking about bring to the Switch, then keep bringing them on SE. Still waiting for the international version of the Mana Collection SE.

Holy crap! Picking this game up next week! Thank you Square Enix.

  • Cool~. I hope we get Scarlet Grace somehow too.

  • Radish

This is great! So glad Square Enix is supporting Switch with these kinds of games. There were so many amazing Square and Enix games on SNES it seems like a great strategy to pad out their releases of new games with these remasters.

    What’s next? Ogre Battle? E.V.O? ^__^

I don’t know, but I have been waiting for Romancing Saga 2 to be localized since I first saw this game back in the 1990’s. I also totally agree with you on Square Enix’s support of the Switch. I would rather have 20 medium budget games than have two big ones that might have tech issues with the Switch. We’ve already seen the consequences of the later with Wii U and the former with 3DS.

      • Radish

Exactly, and with the way big budget games have been lately for 3rd parties, it’s not like they are cranking out Witcher 3s every year. More often than not they flop. Would much rather have medium budget games that come more frequently. I have no problem with 3rd parties bringing big budget games over if they can master the Switch. Square Enix is taking advantage of the Switch’s unique capabilities and not trying to drag and drop a PC game onto it. It’s smart.

Anyone know if this is worth getting on launch?
