If you missed today’s European 3DS press release, you may not have seen the brief blurb about Smash Bros. It’s now confirmed that the amiibo update is due out tomorrow.

Below is the relevant blurb:

A free update will also be released on 10th February for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS that will enable amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. Collection to be used with the new systems.

GameStop has gone live with pre-orders for the Super Mario amiibo series. Links to each figure can be found below.

Amazon sold out of these amiibo quickly, but rumor has it that the Super Mario figures won’t be rare. We’ll see what happens in the long run!

Nintendo has opened the Japanese website for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. You can find it here.

One interesting note: the page confirms that amiibo will be supported. amiibo (or StreetPass) can be used to obtain tokens, which can be used to draw lots for Collection Mode.

There is no Mewtwo amiibo – at least not yet. That means it’s time for fans to pick up the slack!

What you see above is a unique, fan-made Mewtwo “amiibo”. It was built from an old Mewtwo toy and features the Mewtwo NFC chip from the Pokemon Rumble U toy line. The figure features unique packaging as well.

This custom Mewtwo amiibo is up on eBay, and bids have surpassed the $250 mark. You can check out the auction here.

Nintendo appears to be cooking up a couple of special Mario amiibo. “Children’s Product Certificates” for gold and silver figures have been spotted on the company’s website. That would make this official, though we haven’t heard anything out of Nintendo – so we’ll mark this a rumor for now.

If you missed out on pre-orders for the Mario Party 10 amiibo on Amazon, you’ll be happy to hear that there is an alternative. GameStop is currently taking pre-orders, and you can reserve a copy right here. There’s no word on how long stock will be available for!

Well, this is certainly disconcerting! The official product page for the Rosalina amiibo appears to have been removed from Target’s website. That doesn’t bode well for the figure’s future at the retailer…
