Chicken Wiggle

Atooi has opened its Kickstarter for Chicken Wiggle Workshop, a port of the 3DS platformer with new HD artwork. You can access the campaign here. The target goal is $30,000.

Here are a few comparisons showing how the new art stacks up to the pixel style on 3DS:

For those who prefer the pixel look, don’t worry: an option will be included so that players can toggle between the two styles. It’s also worth noting that a planned stretch goal will include an overhauled soundtrack that features music from Grant Kirkhope.

Chicken Wiggle Workshop has until April 5 to reach its goal.

As we reported reported last month, Atooi had been gauging interest in a potential version of 2D platformer Chicken Wiggle for the Switch that would be supported via Kickstarter. Today, the developer has announced they will be launching a campaign on March 6 to do just that with Chicken Wiggle Workshop.

See the full details in the tweet below:

Atooi released the 2D platformer Chicken Wiggle, complete with a level editor, for 3DS last year. Since the system was late in its lifecycle and Switch had been soaking up the limelight, it was a bit overlooked.

Atooi is now gauging interest in a potential version of Chicken Wiggle for Switch that would be supported on Kickstarter. Founder Jools Watsham said on Twitter that new HD artwork would be included.

As for the Kickstarter campaign, it would be “as low and reasonable as possible.” The funding goal would be in the range of five figures.

Mutant Mudds developer Atooi brought Chicken Wiggle to the 3DS eShop last month. Sadly, sales have not been strong thus far.

Atooi founder Jools Watsham discussed Chicken Wiggle’s sales in a new blog post. Below are a couple of excerpts:

At PAX West last week, Atooi was on hand to show off its new 3DS game Chicken Wiggle. Get a look at some off-screen footage from and developer interview below, courtesy of AbdallahSmash026.

It didn’t take long for Jools Watsham to announce a new game following the closure of Renegade Kid. At Atooi, Watsham is currently making Chicken Wiggle for the 3DS eShop and iOS.

Here’s an overview:

“The stars of Chicken Wiggle are an improbable duo: a young chicken and his best buddy – a wiggly worm – nestled in his backpack! Together, they team up for adventure to jump, peck, and worm-grapple across a myriad of perplexing platforming levels – full of fun gadgets, tricky hazards, and sneaky foes – determined to rescue their friends from the wicked witch in her sky towers.”

And a teaser:

A big aspect of Chicken Wiggle is the game’s level creator. Users can choose between various gameplay rules, art themes, and provide custom hints, tips, and search tags. Levels can then be shared with others through a community portal.

Chicken Wiggle will be released “soon.”
