Update: As it turns out, this was only an estimate from Media Create. Updated data can be found in our latest post here.

Original: Initial Japanese sales data for the Switch Lite has been revealed. In its first three days, the device managed to sell 114,000 units.

As for the original Switch, it moved another 64,000 units in Japan last week. That’s in comparison to 52,000 units the week prior. That means the Switch Lite sold over 100,000 consoles and slightly increased sales of the standard Switch.

Yoshi’s Crafted World launched worldwide on March 29. Through March 31, the game sold a bit over 50,000 copies in Japan. Media Create now shares further information about the game’s performance.

Yoshi’s Crafted World sold through 35.96% of its initial shipment. To compare this to recent entries in the series: Yoshi’s Woolly World, which released in July 2015 on Wii U, sold 31,000 units in its first week, while the semi-follow up on the 3DS, Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World, initially sold 40,000 units in that same timeframe. The sales of Switch, however, were down to 50,000 units (89.78% of the previous week), the lowest of the year. Media Create says this means there is no marked influence of the game on hardware sales.

Media Create has been the go-to tracker when it comes to Japanese sales data. However, that may very well change following an announcement from the company this week in terms of how it will be handling the information it provides going forward.

In the past, Media Create has published full hardware and software sales from Japan. However, starting in April, the company will only post the top ten software ranking without actual sales numbers. Those who are interested in more specific information will need to work with Media Create directly on a paid basis – meaning the public will essentially be locked out of the data.

What does that mean for us? Well, until the change is made (which will be pretty soon), we’ll continue to use Media Create data. Nothing has been settled for certain, but we’ll likely switch over to Famitsu numbers after that seeing as the two are relatively similar.
