Mega Man X

Yesterday, Mega Man 11 developer Tsuchiya Kazuhiro visited Taiwan to present the title to the Chinese media. When asked about another entry in the Mega Man X series at a press conference, Kazuhiro clarified that there isn’t one in development. He said he can’t say they’re “doing nothing” but a Mega Man X sequel depends on the reception to Mega Man 11.

Capcom and iam8bit are teaming up for new physical versions of Mega Man classics. Mega Man 2, along with Mega Man X, will be reprinted on cartridge later this year.

Both are priced at $100 each and are limited to 8,500 units. They’ll come with deluxe packaging and “premium” instruction booklets, while the cartridge “houses the original game code on a brand new PCB board and are fully playable on NTSC consoles.”

Fans can pick up the Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X 30th Anniversary Classic Cartridge in two colors: a standard opaque light blue and a smaller batch (1,000 of each) of translucent, glow-in-the-dark blue. Cartridges will be “randomly inserted into sealed, unmarked boxes”.

Here is a look at Bandai’s Super Rockman X figure from the Giga Armor series. This model is designed by Kanetake Ebikawa notable for his mechanic design work on Gundam 00 and Full Metal Panic! This should be available in October.

Mega Man X is out today on the North American New 3DS Virtual Console. Check out the official trailer below.

Nintendo’s website confirms that Mega Man X is making its way to the North American 3DS eShop this week. Starting tomorrow, if you have a New 3DS, you’ll be able to purchase the classic title.

Here’s an overview:

“Hundreds of years after his death, Dr. Light’s final creation is discovered. Released from his capsule by Dr. Cain, ‘X’ is born into the world of the future where robot rebellions are a thing of the past. But when Dr. Cain tries to implement Dr. Light’s designs into a new series of Reploids, something goes horribly wrong. Now, the future lies on the brink of destruction and X must use all of his newfound powers and abilities to hunt down the maverick Reploids and their leader, Sigma, before the human race is wiped from the planet!”

Mega Man X will be priced at $7.99.

Nintendo and Capcom have kicked off a “2 Games, 2 Dollars each, 2 Days” sale on a pair of Mega Man titles. Mega Man X (Wii U VC) and Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge (3DS VC) can both be purchased for just $2. The sale lasts until December 18 at 8:59 AM PT.
