Nyamyam, the studio behind the Wii U eShop game Tengami, today announced that it’s bringing Astrologaster to Switch. The Shakespearean comedy will launch on February 18.

We have the following overview and trailer for Astrologaster:

Update: Bumped to the top. More comments from Nyamyam’s Twitter account:

During a post-mortem talk at this year’s Develop conference, Nyamyam shared sales data for its debut game Tengami.

Tengami managed to move 11,000 copies on Wii U. While that’s hardly comparable to the game’s iOS sales of 196,000 units, it’s similar to the performance on PC/Mac.

Nyamyam co-founder Jennifer Schneidereit also said:

“A lot of developers ask me about the Wii U, whether it’s a good platform for independent developers. To be honest, I don’t know if it’s a good platform for independent developers, but I don’t regret releasing on the Wii U. We decided we’re going to do a Wii U version, I worked under the assumption it would sell 10,000 copies – it sold a little bit more by now, so that’s okay. Speaking to other independent developers, there seems to be a consensus that the average indie game on the eShop has sold 10,000 copies in its lifetime – we’ve sold 11,000 now, and I think there’s more room to grow. I think our lifetime sales will be closer to 20,000 in the end.”

Tengami creator Nyamyam was asked by one fan on Twitter today if the studio would ever consider making a Wii U exclusive. Nyamyam pointed out that making games exclusive to the platform is “risky” at this point, and the company would need “to see how the platform develops.”

As for future Wii U support in general, it sounds like Nyamyam would be open to making additional titles in the future. The studio “would love to make games” for the Nintendo community, which “is super fun.”

Update: Nyamyam also added the following on Twitter…

Nyamyam hasn’t disclosed any specific sales figures for Tengami, but the studio says that the game’s performance on Wii U has been “somewhat disappointing”.

Co-creator Phil Tossell told Nintendo Life in a recent interview:

Tengami has done very well for us on iOS. No doubt the worldwide Editor’s Choice was a large contributing factor. I hate to think what might have happened had we not been featured. I’d say that the Wii U sales have been somewhat disappointing. Although we had much lower expectations than iOS, I think even taking that into consideration we’ve been disappointed with the sales so far.

Tengami has been out on Wii U for about two months. Hopefully the game’s sales can pick up over time!

Tengami is launching on the Wii U eShop on November 13, Nyamyam has announced. That date applies to the Americas, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Pricing is set at $9.99 / £6.99 / €7.99.

Nyamyam “spent the last couple of months carefully porting the game over to the Wii U, as well as integrating Wii U specific features such as posting and sharing to Miiverse, as well as collectible Miiverse stamps.”

There are also plans to release Tengami in Japan at a later date.

It’s been a fairly long wait for Tengami for Wii U, but the game is almost here. Developer Nyamyam said on Twitter today that the game recently passed certification in both the US and Europe. A release date will be announced “soon” – it’ll likely be out next month.
