The Super NT, a little console by Analogue chock-full of SNES games, comes with a cool little surprise. Super Turrican: Director’s Cut will be released for the first time. This is the complete, original, untrimmed version of the Super Turrican released in 1993, and the Director’s Cut is 50% larger in file size. Analogue’s Christoper Taber says it has “a new level with new music, more enemies, better sound effects and graphics and even a new way to use the beam weapon.”

For those who haven’t heard, the Super NT is a reimagining of the SNES. It’s described as “the definitive way to explore Nintendo’s 16-bit era” and is compatible with the 2,200+ SNES and Super Famicom game cartridge library.

Whether you played Turrican in your youth or not, it is bound to be a new experience.

Had it not been for the Super NES Classic Edition, Star Fox 2 may have been lost to history. The game was never intended to be released after Nintendo canned it due to the impending launch of the N64. That’s despite the fact that Star Fox 2 was essentially complete.

A couple of decades later, Star Fox 2 finally made its debut on the Super NES Classic Edition. Famitsu decided to ask Nintendo how the release happened. In an interview with Famitsu, Kazuhiro Maruyama, Takao Shimizu, and Kazuyoshi Nishi explained the situation.

Amazon hasn’t exactly done the best job with pre-orders of the Super NES Classic Edition. Many customers have yet to receive their units, despite putting down their reservation months ago.

Amazon also sent out emails to customers this week, stating that shipments have been delayed. Making matters worse, the retailer still doesn’t have a concrete date as to when they’ll have the SNES Classic Edition ready to ship out. The email also asks those who placed orders whether they “still want to receive this item.”

Famitsu has reported that the Nintendo Classic Mini Super Famicom has over sold 368,913 units in the first 4 days in Japan. This is almost double the sales of the Nintendo Classic Mini: Family Computer if you compare the 262,000 units sold on its first 4 days.

GameStop has some good news for those who missed out on the launch of the SNES Classic Edition at the end of September. This week, the hardware is returning.

GameStop stores across the U.S. will begin to receive new shipments today. The retailer is saying that an online restock is planned for tomorrow, October 11. The news applies to Think Geek as well.

Even if you’re unable to secure a SNES Classic Edition this week, don’t worry just yet. GameStop noted that it will have weekly shipments, and believes it will be able to continue with restocks throughout the rest of 2017.

Much like Switch, the Super NES Classic Edition is a hot item this year. Many stores are already sold out despite only having launched on Friday.

At least in GameStop’s case, the retailer is promising more stock “very soon.” This applies to GameStop’s own stores and ThinkGeek outlets.

Early reports from consumers indicate that Nintendo has done a much better job with Super NES Classic Edition shipments compared to last year’s NES Classic Edition. Still, if you’ve lucked out on finding a unit, don’t turn to the likes of eBay just yet.

Polygon heard from Target, GameStop, and Toys “R” Us that more SNES Classic Edition consoles will be available throughout the holiday season. The only slight unknown is Best Buy. The retailer did not respond to Polygon’s inquiry, but it’s very unlikely they’ll be left out of future shipments.

As for Target, GameStop, and Toys “R” Us, they say the restocks will take place sporadically during the holiday season. They’re just not offering any specific dates in terms of additional shipments. Customers will be provided with updates when shipments are expected.

The Super NES Classic Edition has launched around the world. Bethesda has taken notice, and is celebrating in its own special way. The company thought about what the boxart for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim could have looked like had it been on the SNES – see the image above.

8Bitdo has two new controllers in the pipeline for the Super NES Classic Edition. They come in two variants: SNES and Super Famicom.

Both controllers feature 2.4G wireless technology and a rechargeable lithium ion battery built in. 8Bitdo says it’s the “highest quality retro controller available, designed with attention and care”. You’ll receive the controller, 2.4G receive, and a USB cable with a purchase.

These controllers ship in December. You can pre-order the SNES design here and the Super Famicom version here.

If you’ve purchased the SNES Classic Edition in Europe, you should find a slip inside with a code for 300 Platinum Points that can be added to your My Nintendo account. As far as we know, this isn’t included in the North American version. Last year’s NES Classic Edition did come with 300 Platinum Points of its own
