Switch has received another new firmware update. Nintendo has started distribution of version 4.0.1 for all users.

According to Nintendo, the update makes general system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience. This includes a change with regards to the HDMI connection process specification to match that of version 3.0.2. In doing so, video and sound output issues with some TV models have been addressed.

Switch had its biggest firmware update this past week. Video capture for select games, data transferring, and eShop pre-loading were among the features added.

Once the update dropped, Switch owners began to notice some other additions and changes. For instance, the system now has support for USB wireless headsets.

With yesterday’s Switch firmware update, Nintendo finally introduced the ability to capture video. There are a couple of caveats, however. You can only use the feature with a few select Nintendo games, and you’re limited to just 30 seconds of gameplay.

Kotaku UK spoke with two sources who say that Nintendo has more in mind for video recording on Switch. The company’s first goal is to have all first-party games supporting the functionality, as well as titles tied to Nintendo properties. In other words, titles like Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Fire Emblem Warriors are the priority at the moment.

Nintendo updated Switch last night with a number of major features. The system now has the ability to capture video for select games, you can transfer data between consoles, and more. We have the full rundown from here.

Aside from what Nintendo mentioned, the new system update adds a few “hidden” features. Among these is support for wireless USB headsets.

Happen to have a PlayStation headset lying around? That’ll work with Switch. Just plug it in and you’re good to go. Usage is primarily intended for docked play, but with an adapter, you should be able to get it working in portable mode as well.

Switch received its big 4.0.0 update tonight. It’s arguably the biggest system update for the platform since launch. For a look at the new additions, watch the video below.

A major system update is now available for Switch. Nintendo just issued version 4.0.0.

Among what was added today, Switch users can capture video for “select games”. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, and Splatoon 2 are currently supported. It’s also only possible to capture up to 30 seconds of gameplay.

Another 3DS update is now available. Nintendo has just issued the latest firmware, version 11.6.0-39.

Those expecting new functionality will be left disappointed. Nintendo says of the update: “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”.

These patch notes have actually been the exact same for the past two years. The last notable update was in March 2015 when Nintendo added a Home Menu Layout setting so that users could save and load up to eight layouts with different theme and software icon arrangements.

A new system update has just gone live for Switch. Version 3.0.2. is out now for all users.

According to Nintendo, online play has been added in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Peru. The feature is available for free until the paid online service launches in 2018. “General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience” have also been implemented.

The previous update for Switch was at the very end of July. It addressed an issue with the display of the remaining battery charge.

Update: Version 3.0.1 addresses an issue in which the remaining battery charge isn’t displayed accurately. If the system’s battery power display suddenly increases or decreases, Switch owners are advised to follow these steps. You should see a gradual improvement.

Original: A new firmware update has just been issued for all Switch consoles. Version 3.0.1. is now available for download.

Thus far, Nintendo hasn’t shared any details about the update, but we don’t expect it to be as significant as the last one. That’s usually the case when we see small increase in version numbers.

We’ll update this post when we find out more about today’s update.

Nintendo’s older console just received a new update. All system owners can download version 5.5.2.

The update notes haven’t been exciting for Wii U in awhile, and nothing really changed this time either. Nintendo simply states, “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”. The update may address certain exploits within the hardware.

Note that you’ll need today’s update in order to access the eShop.
