The Takeover

Hello my lovely listeners! This week on Nintendo Everything Podcast, we’re talking two great releases this week: Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition, and The TakeOver. We’ve got more video game updates on Animal Crossing, Bug Fables, and even Yu-Gi-Oh!, then some Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC news. We have an excellent listener mail question about hidden gem series like Hotel Dusk, Famicom Tantei Club, and other obscure text-based, point-and-click adventures.

Check out links and timestamps below, and come hang out.

Back in 2017, the old school beat ’em game The Takeover was confirmed for Switch. It’s been three years since then, and we now finally have a release date. An eShop listing shows that The Takeover will be avaiable on June 4.

Here’s an overview of the title:

Developer Pelikan13 has released yet another bit of footage for their upcoming side-scrolling beat-em-up Switch title The Takeover, this time in the form of an official English trailer. Inspired by classics like Streets of Rage and Final Fight, the modern title features fast gameplay as well as an extended combo system.

The TakeOver

Pelikan13 showed off its upcoming beat ’em up The TakeOver during BitSummit a few days ago. Have a look at the Switch game below.

The Takeover is making its way to Switch. That’s according to a note included on the official Twitter account.

The Takeover is developed by Pelikan13, who was the original creator of The 90’s Arcade Racer (now seemingly known as ’90s Super GP, and it’s Switch-bound). It takes inspiration from classics like Streets of Rage, and plays as a beat ’em up.

Here’s a brief overview:

The TakeOver is at heart and old school beat ’em up inspired by games like Final Fight and Streets of Rage. Although the gameplay is based on these classic games it offers an extended combo system, fast gameplay and modern visuals. Using a combination of full 3D backgrounds and high definition pre rendered sprites the game is designed with Full HD in mind.
