NBA 2K19 is official. The game will launch in September for Switch, and depending on which version you buy, you’ll have a chance to play it a few days early.

LeBron James will star on this year’s cover. 2K wanted to partner “with the most iconic athlete of this generation” to celebrate developer Visual Concept’s 30th anniversary, VP of marketing Alfie Brody said.

With just a week to go until Nintendo’s big E3 presentation, the name of the event has been officially confirmed. It’ll be called Nintendo Direct: E3 2018.

As previously mentioned, the presentation will highlight the new Super Smash Bros. game as well as other Switch titles. It’ll be held at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM in the UK / 6 PM in Europe.

Over the past few months in particular, some have said that discoverability has started to become a problem on the Switch eShop. Nintendo has started to address that with a new addition on the store.

Just a short while ago, a new section was added in under the “Featured” name. Here Nintendo is able to highlight upcoming content, recent releases, and past titles you may not have known about.

NBA 2K19 is coming to Switch, new retail marketing material has revealed. It seems that we’re on track for a September launch, just like last year. Those who purchase the game’s 20th Anniversary Edition will be able to play four days early.

The NBA 2K franchise returned to Nintendo platforms after being on hiatus for several years. Once 2K Sports published NBA 2K13 on Wii U back in 2012, that was it until last year’s comeback on Switch.

PowerA is creating some new GameCube-styled controllers for Switch. Over on Reddit, user Mew_The_Creator says that he’s seen some new designs that have been delivered to the facility where he works. He adds that “Nintendo sent them to our facility to produce product layout for stores so the actual controllers aren’t in there, but the product is confirmed.”

PowerA is also producing some new controllers with Mario designs – see below.

No word yet on when these controllers will be launching, but stay tuned.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

Pocket Rumble

The release of Pocket Rumble on Switch has been a long time coming. It was originally over a year ago, way back during the first Nindies Showcase.

After a lengthy delay, Pocket Rumble’s Switch version is finally complete. It has passed Nintendo’s internal check systems. We’ll be seeing it before the end of July.

Earlier in the week, Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda conducted Q&A sessions with different members of the media. European press participated in one of these events. Masuda was asked about topics such as how core fans will react to the Let’s Go games, on when it was decided to make those titles as well as the 2019 games, and the possibility of more open gameplay in the future.

Some of the notable excerpts are as follows:

A few outlets were able to participate in a conference call around the reveal of Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee. Director Junichi Masuda commented on the games further during the conversation.

Speaking about being based around Pokemon Yellow as well as synergy with Pokemon GO, Masuda said:

Guess what’s just one week away? That’s right: E3! The first conference will actually be held on June 9 by EA. Other companies will follow with their own presentations in the days after that, including Nintendo.

If you’re a gamer, E3 is undoubtedly the most exciting time of the year. This goes for Nintendo fans as well even though we have Nintendo Directs to look forward to every now and then. E3 is packed with announcements, footage of new games (including a ton of hours from the Treehouse streams), and much more. Many companies lay out their plans for the rest of the year, as well what’s planned far into the future.
