The Nintendo Treehouse Log has updated again once again with a new entry. This time, Super Mario Odyssey is the focus, and specifically the localization of the “Jump Up, Super Star!” song.

Nintendo started to localize the lyrics back in January. At that time, the music itself was practically done. It was just a matter of translating the lyrics and having them make sense in English.

The first translation was as follows:

Not too long ago, Polygon was able to speak with Shigeo Maruyama. Maruyama was previously the chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment and the CEO of Sony Music Entertainment. He was present way back in the day when negotiations were taking place with Nintendo about working on a gaming system together.

As we know, Nintendo and Sony’s partnership wasn’t meant to be. Nintendo went in its own direction, as did Sony. Maruyama reflected on those initial conversations with Nintendo in a recent interview with Polygod, in which he stated:

The Wall Street Journal reported this week that a new animated Mario movie is on the way. Illumination Entertainment, the studio behind the Despicable Me and Minions films, has been apparently pegged to work on Nintendo’s project. It’s far from an announcement, but The Wall Street Journal tends to be accurate with these kinds of reports.

Just the thought of any new Mario movie may strike fear into the hearts of dedicated Nintendo fans. There was a Super Mario Bros. movie way back in 1996, though many would say that it was downright terrible. If Nintendo is making a new Mario movie, you still have reason to be cautious. However, there would be a couple of things going for it.

First, Shigeru Miyamoto should be on board. The Wall Street Journal said that Miyamoto was pushing for a producer role. The fact that it would be animated also helps big time. Live action doesn’t make much sense for Mario, but animation is much more appropriate.

So let’s just say that this movie is in fact happening. Is there anything in particular you’d like to see from it? What about things you’d like to see Illumination Entertainment and Nintendo avoid? Let us know in the comments below.

In RIVE, you control a spider-mech that is piloted by a loud mouthed, raunchy captain as he tries to escape a space warehouse that constantly pours threat after threat his way. As far as story- that’s as much as you’re going to get, aside from awkward one-liners and poor pop culture references. The story never grows into much more than that, but that’s completely fine. A game like RIVE doesn’t need a huge encompassing tale to keep you invested, just the quick paced action of the 7ish hour campaign will keep you invested enough.

On its social media channels yesterday, Image & Form posted a mysterious video that might be hinting at upcoming announcements.

Towards the end of the video, the date December 10, 2015 is highlighted. Right after that, we see a Joy-Con flying off-screen. SteamWorld Heist happened to launch on December 10, 2015… so perhaps that game is coming to Switch?

Update: (11/17)Stage Clear Studios and Flashbulb Games have confirmed the December 21 release date. The title will include “a new touch-based control scheme that will let the player to directly draw on screen, improving the precision and agility of the gameplay as in any other previous version of the game.”

Original (11/16): Several years ago, Press Play created the platformer Max & the Magic Marker. It also later came to DS as a retail title.

Press Play ended up making a sequel, Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, back in late 2013. It started out as an Xbox One exclusive, but has since started to find a home on new platforms. Now we can say that a Switch version is happening.

Capcom published a new interview today on its blog all about Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. After previously landing on DS many years ago, it’s now coming to 3DS this month. Series creator Shu Takumi was brought in to discuss the classic game.

In the interview, Takumi reflected on wanting to use the DS’ features (as well as its new power), how one aspect was inspired by Resident Evil, and coming up with the new characters like Apollo himself. You can read the full discussion below.

Update: Bumped to the top. The same catalog also confirms that ACA NeoGeo World Heroes is coming on November 30, and ACA NeoGeo The King of Fighters ’96 is dated for December 28.

Original: Hamster has two more classic games coming to Switch next month. VS. Super Mario Bros. and Double Dragon are both lined up for the system.

These two games have their release dates listed in a Japanese software catalog. VS. Super Mario Bros. will be up first on December 22. Then on December 28, we’ll be seeing Double Dragon.
