Virtual Console

Konami has another Virtual Console game ready for Wii U. Tomorrow, Lords of Thunder will be added to the eShop.

Nintendo’s website has the following overview:

“Lords of Thunder is a side-scrolling shooter that has you take on the role of a legendary warrior, blasting enemies to heavy-metal tunes. Your enemies are plotting to revive Zaggart, “The Dark One,” who was sealed beneath the six continents of Mistral. It’s up to Landis, descendant of the heroic Dyu, to stop them. Choose the order in which to attack the six stages. Before each stage, select one of four magic armors and use crystals you’ve collected during your battles to buy items. Then get ready to face awesome enemies like a fire-spewing sea serpent or a giant insect.”

Lords of Thunder will cost $5.99 on the Wii U Virtual Console.

Swing away on 18 lush holes in one of three different game modes: the single player STROKE PLAY mode and the multiplayer MATCH PLAY and COMPETITION modes. Enter tournaments as one of three different characters. Wind strength and the slope of the green add extra challenges to each hole. Compete against other players in the standard NORMAL MATCH or ante up one of your clubs in the unique CLUB MATCH.”

Power Golf will set you back $5.99.

Even though Wii U isn’t in the spotlight these days, the system’s eShop has been seeing a consistent stream of Virtual Console titles. Bomberman ’93 should be another game that will be appearing soon. It has been rated by the ESRB, suggesting that a release is on the horizon.

Usually it takes a few weeks for games to show up once they’ve been rated. We’ll probably be seeing Bomberman ’93 within the next month or two.

Two more Virtual Console games are landing on the North American Wii U Virtual Console this week. Nintendo’s website lists Digital Champ Battle Boxing and Motoroader for release tomorrow.

Here’s an overview of Digital Champ Battle Boxing:

Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver hit the 3DS Virtual Console last week. As was the case in Europe, Nintendo offered boxed versions. Media Create doesn’t have any sales data on this front, but Famitsu has thankfully come through with a bit of data.

Famitsu reports that Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver sold 56,013 units collectively. The site does not include digital sales in that figure, and the split between the two versions is unclear. Gold/Silver are actually at the top of Famitsu’s chart, slightly edging out Pokken Tournament DX. It’s definitely a solid debut.
