It’s SFII so it’s guaranteed to be good. These reviews seem silly to me.

    • Reiianuo

I imagine a lot of them are, “Too pricey for the same game.” Which is fine or whatever. I still want it. I think the reviews are sort of meaningless for this one, as long as the game runs fine and isn’t broken, everyone who does pick this up probably knows what they’re getting into.

      • Hylian Ticipated

        fight me.

        • DeltaPeng

          Oh, I’ll fight you.

          …with my ARMS

          • Hylian Ticipated

I’m okay with this. Based Min Min ready to turn your blood into broth.

    • Unless you don’t like Street Fighter II

      • Hylian Ticipated

        Unless you fight me

    • Tide

A few of them added the pricing into their review (NintendoLife, Eurogamer, Shacknews) which seems unusual for reviewing a games quality.

The main issue I’m seeing is that the online isn’t up yet. That’ll will be what gives the competitive side of the game so without it available they don’t have a complete image yet. Also some of added features like “way of the hadouken” and the new audio just aren’t that great.

      • this is pretty normal. a lot of them called steel diver for 3ds overpriced for a $40 game. it was not as big a deal when it went on sale for $5.

      • Tlink7

Why shouldn’t price be taken into consideration? Smash 4 is a great game but if it was a hundred euros… you might not recommend it as easily 😛

        • Fore

Plus one has to consider that, even if it’s “final challengers”, It’s still Street Fighter 2, which for all intents and purposes, came out in 1991 (according to the wiki)

          • Tlink7

Lol that explains the scores. I imagine a reskinned Super Mario World not being worth 60 euros either

        • Hylian Ticipated

Yeah I would. Nothing tops Smash in terms of balance, roster and content.

          • Tlink7

I’m glad you’re not the average consumer, or all games would be overpriced as all hell 😛
Nothing beats Smash 4 in the amount of content? I have to disagree lol

          • Hylian Ticipated

Name me a fighter that offers the same.

          • Tlink7

Brawl had a whole adventure mode

        • Tide

When reviewing you should give a score based on the game’s quality. If Zelda:BotW released at $100, would that make the sense to review the game as a 5/10? They should still point out the price, but it shouldn’t lower the review score.

          • no deal
if i bought botw for $100 i’d still rate it as perfect

          • Tlink7

To each their own, but I think price should have *some* weight. I didn’t read any of the reviews, so I don’t know how heavily the people let it influence the final verdict. It is why I can’t really recommend Apple products to anyone

        • Why? because they got their copies for free.

          • Tlink7

Erm, they’re not reviewing for themselves you know… the people reading the review have to pay for it…

          • Reviews shouldn’t have price thrown in. That the consumer decision not the critics.

          • Tlink7

Why? You can say that about literally any part of a review, it is all subjective…
”Reviews shouldn’t have X thrown in. That is the consumer’s decision, not the critic’s”

          • Reviews are reviews of free copies sent. They paid no money for it.

Consumers who only read reviews to decide what they buy must make that decision by doing their own research. Docking points of a game because of pricing when it has nothing to do with the game quality.

By your logic every game should be judge then.

          • Tlink7

A review is simply talking about a product. Prices are part of that too. I personally wouldn’t alter my score because of a high price, but I would mention it in my review/verdict

          • It should only be mention if it worth the purchase or rent or don’t buy but it should be taken or adding any points.

    • James Fox

Game reviews are mostly done in a hap hazard way lately
for example, IGN’s review for Double Dragon Neon is reviewed by some douchebag that hates beat-em ups

      • Blake Good

IGN is full of IGNorant douchebags!

      • Hylian Ticipated

        fight me..

        • James Fox

          ….?

    • Hylian Ticipated

      fight me

    • hi v3.0

Because they put zero effort on this port with a price tag of $40…Normally price doesn’t change reviews but this price is beyond ridiculous…No one should defend this game…

      • Hylian Ticipated

But you should defend yourself. Fight me.

      • NintendoPSXTheSecond

This $40 runs better than $60 games with quadruple the budget. Your point?

        • Hylian Ticipated

Sooooo…. you’re saying the SNES games on Virtual Console should all be $40, too? Don’t worry, I’ll wait…

          • I can actually get super street fighter on wiiu for $6 thanks to the discount

        • hi v3.0

Why are you bringing performance here? That has nothing to do with the price.

  • Hylian Ticipated

Eurogamer’s review is pretty trash, though. Avoid all you want, it’s highly biased and its score derived from telling you to not enjoy the game.

    • Desiderio Lazaro

      Fight me

      • Hylian Ticipated

        Stop playin’, bro.

        • Lolo

          Fight me bruh

          • Hylian Ticipated

            TONIGHT.

    • ≈ KobobKC ≈

      Fight me too

  • Coonfoot

Okay, I know it’s a lazy port, but there’s no way it’s THIS bad.

    • Felipe M.

      The game’s good but overpriced.

      • Hylian Ticipated

        Fighting me is priceless, however.

  • Blake Good

Is it just me or are video games going downhill, like Hollywood did, over 20 years ago? So far, there’s hasn’t been many good games, other than Breath of The Wild.

    • hi v3.0

This year has been a great year for gaming so far so idk what are you talking about

    • it’s just you

      • Blake Good

I’m kinda disappointed with the Switch. Sure, Breath of The Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe are great games. But where the hell is the damn Virtual Console and unified accounts?

        • Cinema Crap

For once in your life, can you just be happy about Nintendo’s games, instead of just complaining about the VC for the hundredth time?

  • TDude73

    Mediocre to average. Screw Eurogamer!!!!

    • Felipe M.

They had their reasons but tbh, I couldn’t careless to read it. It’s an overpriced release of SF2.

    • Hylian Ticipated

Take out your frustration by fighting me.

  • James Fox

To me, game reviews are pointless
Take Puzzle Quest for instance, Nintendo Power trashed it but it turned out to be a great game

    • Blake Good

They only give a crap about those awful M-rated shooters!

      • James Fox

        amen

        • Blake Good

Watch IGN give the new CoD game a 10/10 because Craptivison paid them millions of dollars to do so.

          • they gave the last cod a 7/10 so keep dreaming hon

all you’re saying is that capcom and nintendo didnt bribe anyone. it’s not like they’re penniless indies

          • Addy

I’d avoid talking to him if I were you. He takes the slightest insult very seriously and starts flipping out saying how rude you even though you were not, and then some “stalker” makes fun of him.

          • no way i ain’t scared of anybody called Blake

          • Addy

Well don’t say I didn’t warn you. Oh, and he complains about the Virtual Console and related to it. A lot.

          • nobody’s holding me down and makin me read his dumb replies

          • Blake Good

That’s good. I’m sick of IGN getting paid to give games a perfect or near perfect score, regardless of how good or bad they are.

  • theFooFighter

If this game was $20 or even $30 it would have gotten 8s and 9s across the board. It’s street fighter 2, it’s guaranteed to be good whether or not it’s worth $40 is a different question

    • Hylian Ticipated

Way of the Hado is trash, though. Should reviews not base the game in its entirety? Paying extra for a tacked on mode that barely works should be noted. It’s like if the mode is good at all, then yeah the price probably would be somewhat justified. It’s not.

      • theFooFighter

If the overall game was better received then people would probably just forget about way of the hado just like that party game in smash 4

        • Hylian Ticipated

I love Street Fighter, but Smash 4 has way more content than SF could dream of even if you throw out the party game. HD Remix was like $15.

    • Hylian Ticipated

      also, fight me.

  • Felipe M.

It’s just SF2 so not like you wouldn’t know how the game is.

  • LOL yikes

  • Addy

And it turns out a 25+ year old re-re-re-re-re-howmanytimesaretheygoingtoupdatethesamegame-rehash packed with a motion controlled minigame was not met with open arms. And it’s a Switch exclusive. Boy am I exited to play mostly old games from last generation and earlier.

  • Jay Bern

Yeah, that’s about what I expected now that I really think about it. I’ll still buy it, but I’m definitely waiting until it gets a price cut.

Just saying. If it were Ultra Street Fighter IV, I’d buy it day one.

  • nemo37

It’s overpriced for the content it provides. If it was a port of SSIV for $40 then it would have been more understandable. The base game for this SFII remake was released in 2008 for $15, so it hardly makes sense to charge $40 for it.

    • JJ

Capcom should have released Disney Afternoon Collection on Switch instead-it would be an instant buy, unlike this.

    • Bart

I’ll take 2 over 4 any day, but I am considering waiting for it to come down in price a bit, it’s not like I’ve never played it before, I’m in no particular hurry…

  • AquaBat
  • Locky Mavo

It’s a game I may pick up eventually, but not that asking price. I’ll wait till after a price drop and the Switch VC launch before I even consider it. Just hope this doesn’t affect Capcom in a way that they don’t bring new titles to the Switch.

    • Bart

I’m thinking they probably know what they’re doing, release it at full price first to take advantage of the relatively little competition on a new console, then just drop the price later, this game might have legs… That’s sort of what happened with SFIV on 3DS if I’m not mistaken.

      • Locky Mavo

True, you could be right. There’s a lot of other games from Capcom I’d like to see on Switch, hopefully this doesn’t hinder anything and Capcom delivers at E3.

  • Justmadeanaccount2

You guys are such freaking fanboys. Not every game on Switch is going to be good. This game is a lazy piece of garbage Capcom strung together to make a quick buck. I don’t get how anyone could possibly defend this.

    • Let them defend it.
Just like Sony Fanboys defended Street Fighter V massive failure.

    • they need to justify spending $300 on a system with one game

  • James Fox

Suppose the game is good regardless of Way of the Hado

    Again, Critics can be wrong
Nintendo Power trashed Puzzle Quest for the DS and that game was actually fun to play

  • azoreseuropa

The reviews are silly. Inaccurate. Its up to us and not those reviews. Ignored them!

  • ben

LOL despite the reviews SF2 is the number one selling game on Amazon US.
