23-year-old man arrested in Japan after selling hacked Sobble for Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield

According to a report from Asahi News, a 23-year-old man has been arrested in Japan relating to modded and hacked Pokemon in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield.
The arrest was made after a modded Sobble was sold. In April of last year, the man apparently took home 4,400 yen from the hacked creature, which is about $42. A press conference was held earlier today and police showed the desktop PC used to alter the data.
The sale of modded Pokemon goes beyond just Sobble. Based on today’s report, the man brought in 1,150,000 yen ($10,900) over the course of a year.
The man’s activity is in violation of Japan’s Unfair Competition Prevention Act. Asahi News states that the suspect has already confessed.
