Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed is coming to the 3DS, but not Wii. One would think that this has to mean the game is in development for Wii U.

While SEGA nor Sumo Digital are confirming anything outright, producer Joe Neate has hinted that the title could be released on additional platforms.

When asked if the possibility of a Wii U version has been discussed, Neate said:

“I’m sure there are still discussions ongoing about that at the moment. I think the platforms announced today are the only confirmed ones, but yeah, keep your eyes peeled for potential other platforms I’d imagine.”

Neate wasn’t able to comment on why Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed isn’t in development for Wii, by the way…

Update: One more rating for the road: Tumblepop.

3DS Virtual Console listings continue to pour in from various classification boards.

Today, PEGI has rated Rayman for the service. This must be related to the Game Boy Color version of the title, which was released in 2000.

It looks like we can also expect The Sword of Hope 2 on the eShop soon, as the OFLC has added in an entry for the old Game Boy game.

Update: Bumped to the front page with more screenshots.

Screenshots aren’t from the 3DS version obviously, but it should contain most of the features from the other platforms. And if this is in the works for Wii U (which I think it is), you can expect that version to look similar to the screenshots above.

A sequel to Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing is in the works. Sumo Digital and SEGA will release “Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed” this autumn.

When we first heard rumblings of a followup, the project was rumored for the 3DS, PlayStation Vita, and 3DS. Two out of those three platforms have been confirmed. Right now the game is heading to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, 3DS, and Vita. Unlike the original, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed is not coming to Wii. This makes us think that SEGA will be announcing a version for Nintendo’s new console at E3…

In February, composer Hideki Sakamoto tweeted that Time Travelers would arrive in early summer. A new pamphlet from Nintendo gives credence to his message.

The pamphlet includes games expected to ship in June/July. Each entry lists a specific release date… except Time Travelers.

In any case, it seems as though Level-5 will launch Time Travelers within the first two months of summer.

Nintendo has confirmed “Midnight Purple” as the next color variation for the 3DS in North America. It will be available on May 20.

Just as lilacs and hyacinth bloom throughout the spring, so too a new color is blooming for the Nintendo 3DS system. Midnight Purple gives the hand-held a royal new look. The new color will launch May 20, the same day Mario Tennis Open becomes available.

The Midnight Purple Nintendo 3DS, offered at a suggested retail price of $169.99 in the United States, becomes the fifth color in the always-stylish Nintendo 3DS color palette, joining Cosmo Black, Aqua Blue, Flame Red and Pearl Pink. Now fans have another option to customize the look of their systems to suit their individual styles and personalities.
