General Nintendo

That’s right – The Game & Watch collection has been removed from Club Nintendo. And unfortunately, Nintendo has yet to add any additional prizes. You may remember that Denise Kaigler teased exclusive artwork for this month, but that reward has yet to go live on the site. I assume that it should be up sometime in the next two weeks if Denise plans on keeping her word!

When Konami initially opened their TGS website, there were five panels for “coming soon” titles. Over time, however, those boxes have been filled. There is only one other mystery game on the website. It’s not clear if the remaining game will be announced before TGS, although it will be present in a different booth. Konami has also earlier today that a few announces can be expected at the event.

Believe it or not, there actually has been a good amount of anime based on video games. Sure, some anime has seen short runs, but a number of popular titles have been transformed for television programming. What about games that haven’t been produced as anime, though? Dengeki magazine hosted a poll and asked its readers which products they’d like to see make the jump. We’ve posted the results below.

1. Persona 4
2. Phoenix Wright
3. Okami
4. Kingdom Hearts
5. Idol Master
6. Metal Gear Solid
7. Yakuza
8. BlazBlue
9. Persona 3
10. Atelier Rorona

Rather than a new game, the Mario Club trademark we posted yesterday is actually a new Nintendo subsidiary, which will be transformed from a preexisting division. What is the point of Mario Club, you ask? The subsidiary will be in charge of playing through and debugging titles in an attempt to improve quality. Also, because Mario Club will be a public company, anyone will be able to purchase stock eventually.

This comes from Nintendo’s Denise Kaigler, when asked about whether or not there will be a Media Summit in North America later this year…

“…We don’t have any last-minute megaton surprises to announce. And we’ve tried to be pretty good about giving media (and consumers!) opportunities to get hands-on time with our games. They were featured at the E3 Expo and then again this past weekend at PAX, where we showed off upcoming games like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story. For the first time we also showed off a new WiiWare Pokémon game called Pokémon Rumble.

…So while we’re not planning to do another big summit for all media this year, I think it’s safe to say we’re giving both consumers and writers like you ample opportunities to check out the games they want to see in advance of the holidays. Additionally, remember that in the past we have held a variety of consumer-sampling activities around the holidays. Your readers should be on the lookout for future opportunities to get their hands on the newest Nintendo titles, though there’s nothing specific I can share with you just now.”

I suppose this response isn’t all that surprising. Nintendo already has big guns in store for the holiday season in New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Wii Fit Plus. However, if Nintendo plans on hosting an annual conference in October – even if there’s only one in Japan – I’d expect at least one surprise.

What is The Last Story, you ask? We actually don’t know, and probably won’t know, until Nintendo makes some sort of announcement. Interestingly, practically all trademarks registered by Nintendo in Japan are almost always in Japanese. However, Glory of Hercules was one of the few instances in which the trademark was registered in English. Perhaps Nintendo will be looking to release The Last Story internationally, similar to Glory of Hercules.

Image Epoech, the developers behind titles such as Arc Rise Fantasia and 7th Dragon, will have their newest title revealed in next week’s Famitsu. While the company has mostly worked on Nintendo platforms, they did say awhile back that they have an unannounced PSP project in development. Of course, we won’t know if this is the game Famitsu will show off until the news is leaked in a few days. We will, however, provide further updates if this happens to be Nintendo related.
