Nintendo Osaka

Nintendo Osaka will open as a new store in Japan, Nintendo has announced. It will be hosed at Daimaru Umeda starting at the end of 2022. More information will be shared in the future.

The company’s only store in the United States, Nintendo NY, opened in 2005. It actually began as The Pokemon Center in 2001 before it was remodeled into a proper Nintendo store and was known as Nintendo World. It was later renamed Nintendo New York in 2016.

donkey kong movie

A new solo animated movie for Donkey Kong is in the works, a report from GiantFreakinRobot claims.

Much about the supposed project is not yet known. However, Illumination would be in charge of handling the film and Seth Rogen would again be voicing the character. Rogen is set to play Donkey Kong in next year’s Super Mario animated movie, which is on track for December 2022.

pikmin future

In a new video we’re sharing today, we’re thinking about the future of Pikmin.

At this point, the series has been around for a couple of decades. For some reason though, it doesn’t feel like it and Pikmin still feels fresh to me – maybe because there are only three mainline games (a number that Splatoon is already reaching in seven years). Nintendo seems to be very fond of the IP, promoting it outside of the main games with animations, a 3D spin-off, and now the recently-released mobile title Pikmin Bloom.

With all of this in mind, in today’s video, I decided to talk about the current situation of the series: eight years without a new game, a lot of reports about a “Pikmin 4”, a recent port of Pikmin 3 for the Switch, and now a new mobile game. What do you think lies ahead for the future of the Pikmin series? Watch the video below and share your opinion in the comments.

zelda ocarina of time prototype

Former Nintendo developer Giles Goddard has provided a first look at a prototype for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time that originally featured portals.

Earlier this year, we heard from Goddard that there was some experimentation very early on with an idea involving Hyrule Castle. Similar to Super Mario 64, players would access different parts of the map through these portals. The mechanic was ultimately scrapped and Nintendo ended up going with a more open design in the end as players visit areas by traveling through Hyrule Field.

A new Nintendo Monthly Rewind video has gone up for October 2021. Fans can catch up on various news, including the release of the Switch OLED, Metroid Dread, Sora as the final fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and more.

nintendo scary

We’re just a little bit late, but here is our Halloween video! I’m a big fan of scary moments in Nintendo titles – those strange and dark instances in a game that is otherwise colorful and full of happiness. But recently, I get the feeling that things have changed as those moments are less present or sometimes very well hidden. Even so, they are still there.

In this video I highlight some of those more recent spooky moments in Nintendo games, commenting on how they’ve changed and the different approaches in various franchises. Featured titles range include Mario, Xenoblade, and more. For the full video, continue down below.

Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda is almost here, and Nintendo has shared a number of different gameplay clips for the product. We’re able to see the different titles included as well as the timer functionality.

For those that missed out on the original announcement, Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda includes The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. These games can be played in English or Japanese. The Game & Watch classic, Vermin, is also included. And finally, you’ll be getting a digital clock and timer, and you can interact with both.

Here’s a look at the gameplay for Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda:

LEGO Super Mario Luigi's Mansion

In celebration of Halloween, it’s been announced that the LEGO Super Mario line is expanding once again, this time with sets based on Luigi’s Mansion.

King Boo, Polterpup, Bogmire, Toad, Boo and other characters from the Luigi’s Mansion series will be featured. Players can use a LEGO Luigi (or LEGO Mario) figure from a Starter Course in new challenges. The sets themselves have new immersive sounds and music.

When you think of Fatal Frame, one of the first things that comes to mind is the Camera Obscura. However, when the series originally began, the development team actually considered a few other objects instead.

Nintendo Everything recently spoke with Keisuke Kikuchi, the producer of the Fatal Frame. There was some talk about the new release of Maiden of Black Water on Switch, but also discussion about the franchise and general. And when asked if there were other objects that were initially thought about before settling on the camera, he said:

goldeneye 007 ban

More than two decades after its original release on N64, GoldenEye 007 is no longer “banned” in Germany.

As explained by Mental Floss, the German federal agency Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Medien (Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons) set up an index in the 1980s in which a piece of media could be included if it were deemed harmful to young people. GoldenEye was one such title that was added – way back in 1998 – due to its death scenes and perceived glorification of violence. Being included on the list can significant hinder sales.
