Sniper Elite V2 is a fairly bare bones experience on Wii U. Unlike the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, there is no online co-op of any sort. There isn’t any downloadable content either.

This won’t be changing anytime soon; publisher 505 Games told Coffee With Games: “We currently do not have any plans for DLC.”

Developer Rebellion doesn’t have much to discuss when it comes to future game updates. When asked about the possibility of posting in-game screenshots to Miiverse, CEO and creative director Jason Kingsley responded:

“With the game just launched, it’s probably a bit early to talk about updates or new content yet!”

Kingsley was similarly quiet when asked about Sniper Elite V2’s engine, but he did mention how the Wii U version runs at a higher resolution than that of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 original.

“We can’t really go into specifics, but all versions of Sniper Elite V2 are running off our powerful in-house engine – Asura – which is very adaptable. We even use it to power our mobile games. The game also runs at a higher resolution on Wii U than it does on Xbox 360 and PS3 due to the platform’s hardware strengths.”

It’s almost crazy to think that Mighty Switch Force! Hyper Drive Edition still hasn’t hit the Wii U eShop in Australia and New Zealand. That’s about a six month wait when you consider when it originally came out in North America and Europe.

Thankfully, the wait is almost over. WayForward confirmed on Twitter that Hyper Drive Edition is due on June 6 – this Thursday – in both Australia and New Zealand:

Nintendo seems to have taken an interest in farting. Or something like that.

While speaking with Kotaku about Nintendo’s peculiar sense of humor in April, director of product marketing Bill Trinen mentioned Game & Wario and noted how the team making the game possesses “their own very, very distinct, off-kilter humor.”

“And then you have a game like Game & Wario. The Wario team, they have their own very, very distinct, off-kilter humor. Which I love, because any time I can talk about farting in an official capacity, it’s fantastic. You’ll see a lot of that when that game comes out for Wii U.”

When asked later what it would take for the Wii U to reach the 3DS’ success, Trinen mentioned farts once again:

“I think we’re on the way [there], certainly, we’ve got games like Game & Wario. And I mean, who doesn’t want a game that’s gonna openly talk about farts?”

And here’s another interesting tidbit. When Nintendo kicked off the Game & Wario “Crowdfarter” to promote the game, Kotaku pointed out that the site was lacking in the farting department. Perhaps in response, the site now contains a “Take This” button that plays a farting sound when hovered over or clicked on.

Yeah… this is an odd post.

Kotaku has gotten its hands on the rumored GameStop email that requests the recall of all Wii U Basic Sets. The retailer will no longer sell the console option starting on June 18 – one week after the E3 Nintendo Direct.

The site’s source provided the image above, which says the following:

“Nintendo Wii U Basic Recall – Two Week Preparation On Tuesday, 6/18, all stories will need to return all new/unopened Wii U Basic (020359). .. Stores that have 10 or more in stock will receive shipping cartons from the [distribution center]. .. All other stores will need to save shipping cartons for this recall.”

Nintendo isn’t saying much about the situation for now. When asked for a comment, a representative said: “We do not comment on our business practices with retailers.”

We’ll be left to speculate as to what Nintendo has planned here…

A pair of weapons and upgrade packs are now available for Resident Evil: Revelations. The Resistance Set and Enhancement Set, previously included as pre-order bonuses/Wii U launch bonuses, can now be purchased for $1.99.

An overview of each can be found below.

Resistance Set – There are 6 weapons and 28 parts in all. Parts include Giant Rabbit’s Foot 3, Green Belt 3, Poisonous Lure 3, Hunting Gear 3, Dehumanizer 3, and more.

Enhancement Set – There are 6 weapons and 27 parts in all. Parts include Long Magazine 10, Fire Rate 4, Damage 5, Piercing 2, Aura of Strength 3, and more.

Two new games have been rated by the OFLC today: Pikmin 3 and Mighty Switch Force! 2. Pikmin 3 is hitting Europe on July 26, meaning that it should be out in Australia around the same time. Mighty Switch Force is due out on the European 3DS eShop on June 27.
