Treyarch just released an update for Call of Duty: Black Ops II on Wii U. The Wii Remote control option obtained the Aim Assist feature, but players have unfortunately started to exploit it online.

A patch is now in development to fix these issues. As players wait for the new update, a Hotfix should temporarily address problems.

A message on the official Black Ops II forum reads:

Hello Wii U Community,

As you know, we recently added Aim Assist to the Wii Remote in a patch. While we are happy with our decision to offer this feature, the community has already identified a number of ways to exploit it. We have fixes to the issues ready, but unfortunately this will require a patch which is still being worked on

In the meantime, we are going to push out a Hotfix that removes Aim Assist on the Wii Remote as an option until we have it in better working order. Again, we do plan to bring it back, but it will have to be in the next patch.

We apologize for the issues found and for any inconvenience this change causes. Expect this Hotfix to go live sometime today.

Fire Emblem: Awakening should be available to those who pre-ordered the title from GameStop starting tomorrow. The retailer posted a message on its Facebook page making note of the date, but didn’t indicate if you’ll be able to head to a local store without a pre-registration.

In other Fire Emblem news, the special blue 3DS bundle will be available by Friday.

GameStop’s notice reads:

“Official Update Regarding Fire Emblem: We expect Fire Emblem Awakening to be available to our pre-order customers by tomorrow, February 6th. The Blue Fire Emblem 3DS system is expected to be in U.S. GameStop stores by this Friday, February 8th.”

Japanese retailer Rakuten listed Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 earlier today, leading to speculation that the Wii U title would be going multiplatform. This week’s Famitsu confirms the news.

In addition to all of the content made available on Wii U, the PS3/360 release will include 25 “Ninja Trials” along with new costumes.

It’s a bit peculiar seeing Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge on new platforms. While it’s technically a Team Ninja title, Nintendo originally published the game in both North America and Europe. Tecmo Koei should be handling distribution duties for the new versions in Japan.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Skylanders is “mixing it up” with the newest game in the award-winning, top-selling franchise. Skylanders SWAP Force builds upon the success of the franchise’s signature gameplay and collectible toy experience and adds a dimension to the “toys to life” innovation. The game introduces an all-new play pattern — dynamic swapability — that lets gamers reconfigure 16 SWAP Force inter-action figures into more than 250
unique characters by swapping the top and bottom halves of the toys. Now, Portal Masters can mix and match characters’ powers and moves and experience an unprecedented level choice than ever before seen in a Skylanders game. Fans also can play Skylanders SWAP Force with their entire collection of characters from Skylanders Spyro’s AdventureTM and Skylanders GiantsTM.

Skylanders SWAP Force features new abilities – such as flying, climbing, digging, bouncing, or teleporting – which can be used in previously unexplored areas of Skylands centered on these play mechanics. Additionally, the game features 16 new standard figures, eight new LightCore™ characters and 16 new versions of fan favorite Skylanders from previous games. Now kids will have more than 100 characters from which to choose. The game’s high-resolution graphics brings detailed characters and richer environments to life, immersing players in the game like never before.

When THQ was forced to sell all of their assets, one of the teams that didn’t sell in their entirety was Darksiders developer ‘Vigil Games’. The folks over at Crytek ended up hiring a good group of the core members of Vigil and forming a brand new branch of Crytek in Austin, Texas, but apparently the new team won’t be continuing on with Darksiders 3:

“We had chosen Austin as the destination for [our U.S. branch], and we needed a lean and core team of experts to run the studio. At the same time, we didn’t want to continue with Darksiders 3, since that doesn’t fit with our strategy. So when I heard that [THQ laid off everyone at Vigil], I decided on Saturday morning to fly out to meet with them to see if the team would be interested to join our mission, which is significantly different than what this team has done before.” – Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli

Apparently Crytek is giving the new studio plenty of breathing room as far as the exact type of game they want to create, so long as they follow the main internal Crytek goal.

“The team identifies as what they want to do. Right now, they just know what the strategy of Crytek is and the framework we need to satisfy, but none of that drives what the game is about.” – Cervat Yerli
