This month’s issue of CoroCoro reveals Yokai Watch 2 for 3DS.

Unlike the original, Yokai Watch will launch in the form of two versions: Ganso (Founder) and Honke (Head). The former comes with the ultra rare silver “Jibanyan Medal Nyaiiin” Z Medal while the latter features the ultra rare “Jibanyan Medal Komanyachi” Z Medal.

New events included in Yokai Watch 2 are bicycle races and climbing the school flagpole to better find yokai. Those who have cleared the first game can make friends with special yokai in this game.

We also have a few story bits as well:

– Will cover the secret origin of the mysterious Yokai Watch that gave the franchise its name
– Keita and company will travel back in time to Sakura New Town in the Showa era
– Will do so thanks to the power of a mysterious yokai (Japanese spirit or demon)
– The key to the story will be Keiz?, a boy from the past who looks like Keita, and Dekanyan, a cat y?kai with an amazing secret

Yokai Watch 2 will launch in Japan on July 10.

q-bit Games and Sleepy Sheepy have provided Nintendo Everything with a first look at their new indie project, “Machete Brawl”.

The title will be released on Wii U and PC later this year. It acts as a follow-up to the original Machete, a game that hit PC, Mac, and Linux just a few months ago.

Machete Brawl begins as the family of Groz’g Island sets up a tournament to win the Mighty Golden Carrot Trophy. You’ll be able to play as one of the family members to fight your way to the trophy through different stages, including a mushroom cave and a castle.

Weapons, bonuses, and maluses will all be a part of the mix, and each stage will have its own enemies and power-ups.

On Wii U, Machete Brawl will offer up to 5-player multiplayer with asymmetrical gameplay on the GamePad. You can also expect fast-paced multiplayer fighting action with jet-packs and carrot guns.

q-bit says creating the game for Wii U “was a no-brainer for us since Nintendo is our first love.”

Tom Create has localized Smash Cat Heroes for the west, and the game is due out in just a few days. A listing on Nintendo’s website confirms that 3DS eShop title will launch on April 17. Pricing is set at $3.99.

You can find an official overview for Smash Cat Heroes below.

According to Inti Creates CEO Takuya Aizu, the studio is still working on the character design for Azure Striker Gunvolt.

Aizu told Siliconera:

“During the development of Gunvolt, we researched what kind of design would appeal to boys between the ages of 10 and 14—who we assume will be the game’s main purchasers—in North America. As a result, we changed Gunvolt’s design, because braided hair and a bare midriff were unpopular among them. However, these changes are not final. We will continue to do research into the matter.”

Some noticed that some changes had been made to main character Gunvolt in the North American version. Basically, the western design drops his bare midriff and ponytail. It’s not much, but some feel that no changes should be made.
