News outlet Bloomberg has reported that the import of copies of Animal Crossing: New Horizons have now been banned in China. With the Coronavirus lockdown in full swing, the game has been a welcome way to socialize with other people amid the harsh rules on staying home and social distancing. While there isn’t an official guideline on why the sale of the game has been banned, it is likely due to the political statements circulating by players online.

Retailer Alibaba’s e-commerce platform Taobao have received instructions to stop the import of the game entirely, impacting not just the software, but all physical merchandise related to the franchise as well. In a statement on Twitter, avid democracy campaigner, Joshua Wong, said he was playing the game and that the movement had shifted online. Here’s another direct statement from Wong:

“Animal Crossing is a place without political censorship so it is a good place to continue our fight.”

While an official release of the game has not gone live in China, imported copies do have an option for Chinese text. If the game is to ever be localized, it’s incredibly likely that creative features like the pattern editor will be removed from the Chinese version. Political slogans aside, Chinese players seem to have really fallen for Animal Crossing’s easygoing social aspects, with Switch hardware sales seeming to be spurred on by the title.

Below are the full details:

Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 might be getting a new update soon. On Twitter, Nintendo made a post about the patch, but deleted it shortly thereafter. It’s likely that the message was posted earlier than it should have been.

We know that the major updates for Splatoon 2 are over, though Nintendo has still carried out weapon adjustments. The social media post did state that the latest patch includes “minor adjustments to a variety of weapons.”

We’ll keep you posted on any new Splatoon 2 updates in the future.

The next Overwatch hero is just a few days away from joining the shooter. Echo will arrive on April 14, Blizzard has announced.

Echo is a damage-based character who is capable of flying in bursts. She’s also able to copy enemy characters and use their ultimate abilities.

Echo is the 32nd hero in Overwatch. Sigma was the last new character in the game, who was added in July 2019.

Nacon and KT Racing have announced the Switch release date for TT Isle of Man 2, the new motorcycle game. It’ll be out both physically and digitally on May 14.

Here’s a bunch of information about TT Isle of Man 2:

Playtonic has announced a new update for Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair. Switch players should have access starting April 14.

One of the major changes concerns the Impossible Lair itself with two options: “Not So Impossible Lair” and “Impossible Lair”. The first one includes optional checkpoints, while the latter means you’ll need to play without the Bee Shield or checkpoints. If you do go with Impossible Lair and clear the level, you’ll earn the “Golden Try” Tonic.

Here’s the full rundown of the update:
