System: Switch
Release date: December 6, 2019
Developer: Ubisoft
Publisher: Ubisoft

Back in May, Ubisoft pulled a rather curious move by releasing Assassin’s Creed III – and its counterpart, Liberation – for the Switch. The port was widely criticized for being poorly optimized and somewhat irrelevant, especially considering the leaps and bounds that the franchise had made in scope and polish since the game’s original release. Many reviewers (myself included) longed to see the series’ fourth entry, Black Flag, released for the Switch instead – albeit without the low frame rate and ropey audio present in Assassin’s Creed III. Fast forward to today, and Ubisoft has only gone and done, well, exactly that.

Journey to the Savage Planet

A Switch rating for Journey to the Savage Planet has popped up a couple of times now. The first instance came about a few months ago in Brazil, and there was another classification for Nintendo’s console just last week from the ESRB. Typhoon Studios creative director Alex Hutchinson has now given an official update regarding potential Switch plans.

During a recent episode of the Game Informer Show, the possibility of couch co-op was brought up. That prompted Hutchinson to say, “If we could ever get a Switch version together, I think it would be brilliant to have the two people next to each other, so we’re looking into it.” Then when asked about Switch specifically, he added that they’re “still figuring out how to handle it”, and the team would likely work with an outside company on the Switch port due to a lack of experience with the hardware.

The Game Awards has certainly made a name for itself over the past few years. Millions upon millions of viewers tune in to the show for first looks at new titles and to see all of the trophies handed out. At this point, you could definitely say that it’s one of the industry’s most important events.

Out of everything that has happened at The Game Awards, one of the more monumental moments for creator and host Geoff Keighley was seeing Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma and Breath of the Wild director Hidemaro Fujibayashi come on stage to accept their Game of the Year prize. Keighley told Hollywood Reporter:
