Switch

Forger has had a couple of big patches over the past few months. Specifically, the “Combat” and “Appreciate” updates add new areas, modes, features and more. Neither of these have been on Switch yet, but they’ll be released in due time.

Developer HopFrog said on Twitter this week that console updates are handled by another team. That being said, the “Combat” and “Appreciation” patches should be hitting “soon”.

Below are the full details on both:

Techland has started sending out Old West-themed postcards to members of the press, teasing a reveal of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger for Switch. An image on the front shows a gunslinger playing on the device so it’s quite clear what this is about. Additionally, the back teases more news to come on October 24 at 12 AM PT / 3 PM ET / 8 PM in the UK / 9 PM in Europe.

Techland previously teased an announcement for Switch earlier in the year. On top of that, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger was recently rated for Switch by the ESRB, which had all but confirmed the port.

Overwatch first arrived in 2016, though it has just now landed on Switch. Director Jeff Kaplan explained why it took some time for Blizzard to release its game on the platform in an interview with Ars Technica.

Blizzard’s Wes Yanagi reconfirmed that Overwatch for Switch first came to be a year ago, around the time that Diablo III came to the system. Kaplan said that the team was initially a bit reluctant to move ahead with porting Overwatch since they knew it wouldn’t look just how it does on PC, but eventually got past that hurdle and realized that it’s not all about graphics.

Game Freak has high ambitions with its next Pokemon game. According to director Shigeru Ohmori, the theme this time around was making “the greatest Pokemon game.”

Ohmori told Game Informer in this month’s issue:

At Tokyo Game Show 2019, Square Enix kindly set us up with a special demo session of the upcoming Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition for Switch. Sifting through the miasma, I sat down with three others to crawl through the dungeon-like environments and bring back some Myrrh (AKA impressions) for our readers. Though I’m not so sure the town will be very festive upon my return from this excursion…

In an interview with Nintendo Everything, producer Junzo Hosoi spoke more about Atelier Ryza, supporting Switch, and what possibilities lie ahead for the future. You can find our full discussion below.
