Limited Run says its Switch releases are on hold due to success of other games and reprints

Limited Run Games puts out physical versions of smaller games that normally wouldn’t receive a retail release. Digital games, niche titles, and others along those lines are given an opportunity to be purchased by collectors.

Originally, Limited Run wanted to have its first Switch release ready sometime this summer. But those plans changed after Nintendo decided to focus on publishers involved with bigger print runs.

It’s a bummer for sure, though on the bright side, Limited Run co-owner Douglas Bogart reconfirmed the company’s interest in Switch. He also shared something interesting: games like The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ are apparently “selling way more” than anticipated, requiring more reprints.

Bogart said:

“So, we told everyone on Twitter that the Switch stuff is on hold at the moment because Nintendo is still playing catch-up, because a lot of people that were doing games such as ‘Binding of Isaac’ didn’t anticipate having to keep reprinting it. They are selling way more than they ever thought. Nintendo is still catching up on those. They don’t really have time for us if we wanted to do a smaller run.”
