Mario Tennis Aces update out tomorrow (version 3.0.1), patch notes

The latest update for Mario Tennis Aces will be available tomorrow – version 3.0.1. Players can access the latest character, balance adjustments have been implemented, and more.

Below are the full patch notes:

  • Changes to Character Abilities
    • The abilities of certain characters have been changed.

      • Slightly increased the power of his shot.
      • Slightly increased his ability to aim for the edges of the sideline.
      • Slightly increased his pace of acceleration.
      • Made it harder to slip when moving.
      Rosalina
      • Slightly decreased the duration of the time freeze after leaping for a ball.
      Pauline
      • Slightly increased the power of her shot.
      • Slightly increased her ability to aim for the edges of the sideline.
      Birdo
      • Slightly increased her ability to aim for the edges of the sideline.
      Luma
      • Decreased its cutback speed.
      • Slightly decreased the power of its topspin shots.
      Chain Chomp
      • Made it slightly easier to slip when moving.
      • Slightly shortened the distance it can lunge to hit a ball.
      Dry Bones
      • His regular lobs and Max Charge Shot lobs now go the same direction as topspin shots.
  • Added Shy Guy Train Tussle to Swing Mode
    • Shy Guy Train Tussle, which is played with one Nintendo Switch system, has been added as a Special Game in Swing Mode.
    • This game can be played cooperatively or competitively. Up to four players (including a COM player) can play.
  • Additional Settings
    • Added a Select Each Time option to Doubles Partners when playing the Doubles Only match type in Free Play and Swing Mode.
    • Made it so you can select the same character as your opponent when your doubles partner has been decided even before character selection.
  • New Characters Added
    • If you play at least one match of the June Online Tournament, you’ll be able to use the new character Fire Piranha Plant. Fire Piranha Plant is a Technical-type character type whose Trick Shots will all generate topspin.
    • Fire Piranha Plant will become available to use as of 9:00 AM on July 1st, 2019, even if you haven’t played one match of the June Online Tournament.
    • If you play at least one match of the July tournament, you’ll be able to use the new character Dry Bowser. Dry Bowser is a special Defensive-type character type whose racket will not get damaged even if he fails to block his opponent’s Zone Shot. Unlike regular Bowser, the blue-flame-breathing Dry Bowser is good at hitting slice shots and can hit an especially powerful backhand.
    • Failure to block a Special Shot will result in racket damage.
    • Dry Bowser will become available to use as of 9:00 AM on August 1st, 2019, even if you haven’t played one match of the July Online Tournament.
    • Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to play the Online Tournament.
  • Additional New Costumes
    • If you play a match in the June Online Tournament and collect the necessary bonus points, you’ll be able to use Bowser wearing tennis attire.
    • Only people who earn the necessary amount of points in June will acquire the Bowser in tennis attire.
    • This Bowser has the same abilities as the regular Bowser.
    • Bonus points will be reset the following month.
    • Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to play the Online Tournament.
    • Only people who earn the necessary amount of bonus points in July and August, respectively, will acquire Wario and Waluigi in classic overalls and Koopa Troopas and Koopa Paratroopas of different colors. After that, different costumes from past bonus points will become available again every month.
  • Co-op Challenge Boo Hunt Returns
    • This Co-op Challenge will be available again from the distribution of Ver. 3.1.0 until 9:00 AM on July 1st, 2019. Co-op Challenge is a mode for online play which will only be held for a certain period of time.
    • A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to play Co-op Challenge.
    • Boo Hunt is a Co-op Challenge played in Swing Mode where you’ll work with other players to get back coins stolen by Boos.A four-player team of friends or players from online is formed, and your goal is to complete the objective together. (If each player has a controller, up to four players can play on one Nintendo Switch system.)
    • If there aren’t four total players, the necessary number of COM players will be added after a certain amount of time has passed.
    • Co-op Challenges Boo Hunter, Shy Guy Train Tussle, and Yoshi’s Ring Shot will rotate monthly starting from June 2019.
  • Other Changes
    • Online Tournament: Slightly decreased the amount of time that the bonus points addition screen is displayed. Also made it so that player can press the A button to skip ahead when they have acquired all costumes through bonus points. (Players cannot skip ahead if they formed a team on two Nintendo Switch consoles.)
    • Snowfall Mountain: Changed it so that the Shy Guy passengers who appear when hazards are turned on will no longer sometimes return shots that are Max Charge Shots.
    • Chain Chomp: Changed its voice when it taunts.
