nintendo labor complaint response statement

Nintendo has provided a statement regarding the situation that was reported this week regarding a labor complaint filed with the National Labor Relations Board.

An unnamed employee filed the complaint last week. In it, the staffer claims that Nintendo of America and hiring firm Aston Carter violated their legally protected right to unionize.

Nintendo now says that the complaint comes from “a contractor who was previously terminated for the disclosure of confidential information and for no other reason.” The company added that it “intends to cooperate with the investigation conducted by the NLRB.”

The full statement reads:

We are aware of the claim, which was filed with the National Labor Relations Board by a contractor who was previously terminated for the disclosure of confidential information and for no other reason. Nintendo is not aware of any attempts to unionize or related activity and intends to cooperate with the investigation conducted by the NLRB.

Nintendo is fully committed to providing a welcoming and supportive work environment for all our employees and contractors. We take matters of employment very seriously.

We’ll keep you informed if any other developments come about related to the situation in the future.
