During Nintendo’s 80th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, president Shuntaro Furukawa apologized for the lack of Switch stock in recent months. Furukawa said that the company has had trouble maintaining global supply since the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Because of the high demand and interest in the system, it was noted that increasing production may take some time to resolve.

Furukawa also said that Nintendo is taking the stock situation very seriously. Although production has already ramped up, the company have an immediate response beyond further studies of the market and demand forecasts.

Unsurprisingly, the coronavirus impacted production, sales, and development operations. Back in February, production of units temporarily ceased because of its effect on Chinese factories. The situation then recovered shortly in March. Nintendo now expects business operations to stabilize throughout the summer.

Finally, as for procurement of parts, this was briefly an issue in May, though is has been recovering.
