Go Vacation isn’t your average mini-game collection. You might have been able to determine that for yourself at this point based on some of the footage and impressions that have been made available thus far. What may surprise you, however, is how in-depth development has been.

Kenya Kobayashi, producer on the title, revealed in an interview with Inside-Games at TGS that over 100 employees have been working on the project. It’s actually been in development for two and a half years.

The team has been looking to create an experience that will act not only as the ultimate family game, but also become the definitive Wii title. Players can explore open 3D environments as well as try out fifty mini-games. New games will be added to your collection as you explore – which can be done by walking, swimming, and riding vehicles – and you may even encounter some secret treasure chests or hidden areas.

According to Kobayashi, playing all of the mini-games could take 15 to 20 hours. In total, around 100 or 200 hours of content can be expected for those who are interested in experiencing every facet of the title. 8 save slots can be used, which will be great for consumers who anticipate their whole family getting involved.

Many video game franchises are experiencing significant milestones this year, including Castlevania. The first game in the series was released on this day twenty-five years ago.

While we don’t know what’s next for Castlevania, you should be able to rest easy knowing that the future is bright. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow producer David Cox took to Twitter to tells fans that the IP has “never been in better shape.” He also stated that “The future is assured.”

Cox wrote on Twitter:

“Today is the 25th anniversary of Castlevania. Some would say the series is in decline but the fact is it’s never been in better shape. The future is assured. Castlevania will never die. The series is evolving and bringing in new fans, reaching larger audiences.”

Lords of Shadow was a respectable entry in the series, but I’d personally love to see a new 2D title for the 3DS (it could be an interesting mix!). Another possibility I could see happening is Lords of Shadow 2, which, if it happens, might have a chance of ending up on Wii U.

Nintendo UK will release a black version of the Wii Balance Board as part of a bundle that is due out on October 7. In addition to the Balance Board color swap, the package will come with a copy of Wii Fit Plus, a Wii Remote Plus controller, and the Wii console itself. The bundle will retail for around £99.99.

Game Memo has gotten their hands on some new Dragon Quest X details. Here’s what their report states:

– Lots of volume, with the hope that players can continue to play online for a long time
– Gameplay content outside of story such as specific quests for the five races
– It seems there will be an “ending” and a “last boss” unlike most online games
– The game’s inn facility will now have a concierge which will provide info about events
– Auto saves
– Can also go to the church to save
– Post office service: send letters/items to friends without directly meeting
– Many times bigger than Dragon Quest VIII’s massive world
– Your character is human, but turns into one of the five races after some sort of happening
– Game begins in a small village, you live with either your brother or sister
– Character making feature allows you to create this family member as well
