Rumors began to appear last night that High Voltage is developing two unannounced titles. While it remains to be seen if the speculation was valid, signs are pointing to the fact that the company is indeed working on at least one project. A member of High Voltage commented on the new HVS title and said that gamers “are in for a real treat.” So, the chances of there being two secret titles, as was the original claim, is a strong possibility.

“Thanks for all the support guys! Im not on Grinder right now (I only helped kick start it, and no, I wont say what im on right now : ) ) but you guys are in for a real treat! I LOVE the whole horror genre and they are really coming up with some AMAZING stuff!!”

Thanks to Jake for the news tip!

There have been a number of different applications for Wii including the News Channel, Weather Channel, and even a food ordering channel (Japan only). However, none are as unique as Silver Star Japan’s newest tool for WiiWare: Easy Non Smoking Appli Wii. You can probably guess what this application is all about, but details can be read below.

– Called Raku Raku Kinen Appli Wii (“Easy Non Smoking Appli Wii”)
– Teachers others how to quit smoking in seven days
– Application also has a book
– Releasing July 14
– Smoking/Non Smoking modes
– Smoking mode – measure smoking status with Smoking Counter, record Smoking History
– Non Smoking mode – smoking journal -> answer questions
– 4 people can use the application at once
– Mii support
– 1,000 points

Small update: Wanted to thank Jake again with some help with translating!

We posted the debut video of Final Fantasy Gaiden earlier today, but here’s a first look at the battle system.

“The concept would definitely work on other platforms as well and we’ve seen gamers from very different backgrounds pick it up and enjoy it equally. We’ve seen both kinds of gamers instantly taking to the game, the casual gamer that played a few games before as well as hardcore ones that play nothing but the latest titles on PS3 and X360. But we never limited ourselves to the DS as platform in our heads and we’ll see what the future holds.” – technical director Marius Fahlbusch

5th Cell has been mostly known for their work on the DS and phones, so it would be a bit odd to see Scribblenauts land on a different platform. If I had a choice to play the title, I’d still pick the DS over any other system because being able to use the touchscreen makes the gameplay seem more streamlined.

Fear comes CALLING
Hudson Soft introduces a new line in horror
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has unveiled a terrifying new take on the horror genre, in the form of Hudson Soft’s CALLING for Wii. Using unique interaction elements, the Wii game features an innovative adventure concept and is driven by its terrifying story and many traps and mysteries. It will be distributed by Konami in early 2010.

CALLING brings new heights to the horror genre, with a breath-taking control system that immerses the player into its nightmare scenario. The player begins the game trapped in a strange room, with the Wii Remote doubling as the on-screen protagonist’s mobile phone. Using a torch to scour the dimly-lit area, players will also receive mysterious calls to their handset, which are answered by raising the Wii Remote to their ear. From this simple basis, CALLING then ramps up the fear, as a ghostly voice speaks directly to the user…

Experience Samus’ story like never before as Metroid Prime Trilogy comes to Wii

9 July 2009 – Bounty-hunting just got a whole lot more intuitive, as the entire Metroid Prime story now utilises the Wii Remote’s pointing system to let you experience first-person action like never before in Metroid Prime Trilogy – which launches across Europe exclusively for Wii on 4 September 2009.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption boasted a breakthrough control scheme when it arrived on Wii in 2007; utilising the Wii Remote’s unique capabilities to set a new standard for precision in first-person action games. That system has now been implemented across the rest of the legendary series, allowing you to experience the entire Metroid Prime story with the peerless precision of the Wii Remote.
