Reggie hints at surprises for Wii U launch window, Take-Two support, no DLC limitations, more

Some say the Wii U doesn’t mark the start of the next-generation because it doesn’t possess sufficient power. Others, including Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, say otherwise:

“This is absolutely the beginning of a new generation. With the innovation we’re bringing to bear, with the social community we’re bringing to bear, [and] with the video entertainment we’re bringing to bear, I think this is the start of a new generation. I think those who say otherwise are clearly trying to preserve sales on their current hardware. This is definitely the start of a new day.”

There are more quotes from Reggie, which stem from a piece published by Kotaku today.

Reggie also hinted that more could be on the way for Wii U’s launch window:

“I think we will continue to surprise the fans with announcements and information. I would not go so far as to say you know everything in our launch window.”

Reggie also commented on Take-Two, somewhat. But in doing so, he deflected comments about BioShock Infinite and Grand Theft Auto V – both published by the company – which are two titles that haven’t been announced for Wii U.

“We’re gratified when we read comments from companies like Take Two. We’re gratified when we’re inspiring the world’s best developers to put content on our system.”

Next, here’s what Reggie said regarding DLC on Wii U following the news that Mass Effect 3: Special Edition won’t be featuring the upcoming Omega pack and other non-disc items:

“We have no policy limitation on DLC or on business model for third party publishers.”

And this wouldn’t be complete without some words about Nintendo TVii’s delay:

“People should not be concerned about it at all. The fact that we are now launching it in December reinforces some key truisms about Nintendo: We launch a product when it is perfect in our eyes, not just because a certain date in the calendar has come up. Probably any other company would have launched it tonight.”
