Retro City Rampage DX update fully detailed, Vblank will make another 3DS game

In a message posted to Vblank Entertainment’s website, the studio shared full details about what’s included in the new Retro City Rampage DX update. The patch is coming to Europe today, and North America soon.

Retro City Rampage DX will not remain consistent at 60 frames per second. On New 3DX, the game runs natively. Speaking of the New 3DS, Retro City Rampage DX also makes use of the C stick.

Today’s news from Vblank isn’t entirely about Retro City Rampage. In the post, the company confirms that another 3DS title will be made, but additional information was not revealed.

You’ll find the full post from Vblank below.

Retro City Rampage: DX’s latest update is available today on the Nintendo 3DS eShop in Europe, with the North American release to follow as soon as it’s through Nintendo certification.

This latest update improves the game for both the original Nintendo 3DS and the New Nintendo 3DS. It unlocks the full power of the new, faster CPU, by running RCR:DX natively on New Nintendo 3DS systems. With their faster CPU, fast-forwarding, screen effects, turbo mode, and everything else are now as smooth as the console versions.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a New Nintendo 3DS though — you’ll still be enjoying the benefits of a much smoother experience! The previous version’s framerate would occasionally dip below 60 fps, but not anymore thanks to some major optimizations. In fact, it boasts a brand new renderer — that’s right, the rendering code has been completely redone! The framerate’s now rock solid, even on the original 3DS systems.

This new update doesn’t just bring optimizations though. With the New Nintendo 3DS C-Stick, you can now aim, attack, and shoot like a twin-stick shooter. As per your requests, Cop Coins can now be turned on or off. The Spanish translation has also been redone, making it an even better and funnier experience for those of you playing it in that language. These, along with more little tweaks than I can even remember…

For those of you patiently waiting in North America, I apologize for the delay. It was submitted to both NOA and NOE simultaneously 3.5 weeks ago, but NOA’s certification queue is very backed up right now. It will be out as soon as possible. Stay tuned and keep an eye on Miiverse, Twitter or Facebook.

I’d like to thank everyone once again who has picked the game up on the Nintendo 3DS. You’ve made the answer to the question “Will you develop another game for the 3DS?” easy to answer: “YES :)”.

I hope you all enjoy the update! Let me know what you think of it on Twitter or Facebook.

Thanks for your continued support!
