3D Sonic The Hedgehog 2

After a slightly longer-than-expected wait for 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2, it’s now out on the 3DS eShop. The game will only take up 313 blocks of space on an SD card. That amounts to roughly 40MB.

SEGA is bringing 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 overseas very soon. Just a few moments ago, the company shared via Twitter that the game is planned for launch on October 8. This should apply to both North America and Europe.

SEGA has included a special feature in 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2. By completing the title, players will gain access to Super Sonic mode. This allows Sonic to begin the game with all of the Chaos Emeralds and 50 rings so he can turn into Super Sonic at any time.

3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is heading to the Japanese 3DS eShop on July 22. We already heard that the game supports local co-op, and now some information has surfaced about a new mode.

SEGA and M2 have added the “Ring Keep” mode to 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2. This has players starting a stage with 10 rings, though that amount is halved each time you take damage. It’s a small but nice addition for those looking for an extra challenge!

A new round of SEGA 3D Classics have been announced for North America and Europe. 3D Streets of Rage 2 is due out in July, followed by 3D Gunstar Heroes in August and 3D Sonic The Hedgehog 2 in September.

Additionally, SEGA has confirmed that 3D Thunder Blade launches on May 14. 3D Fantasy Zone II is out this Thursday.

All of these games feature “a full-fledged re-mastered vintage experience, stunning 3D visuals and optimized for the platform.” New modes and features are included as well.

Pricing for all of the SEGA 3D Classics are set at $5.99 / €4.99 / £4.49 each. Distribution is handled through the 3DS eShop.
