One of the earliest announcements made for Wii U was Metro: Last Light. That release ended up being cancelled in the end, but the first-person shooter IP may now finally be making an appearance on Nintendo’s console with Metro Redux for Switch.

Metro Redux was first rumored for the Big N’s platform after a listing popped up on a Portuguese retailer website. Then more significantly, the European ratings board PEGI just added in a rating yesterday. Those two pages combined all but suggest that an announcement is imminent.

Metro Redux bundles together Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. There were technical and gameplay improvements, including enhanced animations. It’s unclear what exactly we can expect from the Switch version, though we’ve included some additional information and a trailer below.

Apparently the team isn’t stopping here. Gyro aiming is being looked to, and even more fixes are promised for the future.

Saints Row: The Third - The Full Package

A few days ago, Saints Row: The Third – The Full Package landed on Switch. Digital Foundry has now taken a closer look at the game from a technical perspective. Note that the analysis was done prior to the first update dropping this week.

Unlike the last-gen versions of Saints Row: The Third, the game runs at 1080p when docked, which is an improvement. Of course, the resolution is reduced to native 720p in portable mode. Unfortunately, the use of quarter-resolution buffers can be harmful to the overall image.

Saints Row: The Third - The Full Package

Deep Silver hoped to have a patch ready for Saints Row: The Third – The Full Package at launch. Unfortunately, it ended up seeing a last-minute delay. It’s now confirmed that the patch is set to go live this Thursday, and will make making a number of improvements.

The full patch notes are as follows:

System: Switch
Release date: May 10, 2019
Developer: Volition / Deep Silver
Publisher: Deep Silver

There are certain genres that Nintendo consoles have historically missed out on. During the Wii generation, the Call of Duty style shooter was sorely missed – if not for an actual lack of ports (and well-forgotten games like The Conduit), then at least for the Wii’s inability to impressively render HD set piece spectacles. Open world games in the vein of Grand Theft Auto found similar enough success to spawn countless formulaic imitations, but the open world genre saw almost no representation on the Wii, and a handful of really bad ports on the Wii U. Perhaps the Wii’s greatest legacy was the perception that Nintendo consoles are bound to miss out on those “hardcore” blockbuster experiences.

Going along with the release of Saints Row: The Third – The Full Package, Deep Silver has prepared a special Deluxe Pack. Take a closer look at its contents in the unboxing video below.
