E3 2016

Update: Bumped to the top. We have a few more details about the Pokemon plans for E3.

On Tuesday, Pokemon Sun/Moon will be introduced (June 14). Pokemon GO will be featured on Wednesday (June 15). Guests such as developers will stop by, and there will also be new information and trivia about development that can only be heard here. With Pokemon GO, it will be a developer Q&A.

Also, as a bit of an aside, a local Niconico stream in Japan will be held on Thursday. This will summarize the contents of Pokemon’s presence at E3.

Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3 2016 will heavily feature Zelda Wii U later this month. However, as it turns out, that won’t be the only game on the broadcast.

The official Japanese Twitter account for Pokemon confirms that Pokemon Sun/Moon and Pokemon GO will be included in the Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3 2016 live stream. We don’t know what exactly will be shown, but this is rather interesting news!

Nintendo may only have one game on display at this year’s E3, but the company still has one of the biggest booth spaces on the show floor. The expo’s final floor plans went up today, showing Nintendo has three different sections, and apparently the theater as well.

Other publishers like Capcom and Warner Bros. will also be present at E3 later this month. We have a look at the West Hall and South Hall plans in this post.

Update: We now have confirmation on this (thanks immewnity). The email sent out to press does make mention of the “two extended demos” that will let them “step into the wilds of Hyrule and explore some of the grasslands, forests and mountains that they’ve been given mere glimpses of to date.” Media are recommended to set aside 1-1.5 hours.

Zelda Wii U will be the one and only game playable from Nintendo at E3 2016 next month. Outlet finder.com.au now claims to have some information about its appearance.

The site notes, “Nintendo is informing media that there will be two extended demos of the Wii U version to play at the booth and are being asked to set aside 90 minutes to make the most of the gameplay.” I’ve not heard about this personally, though that doesn’t mean that the report from finder.com.au is inaccurate. We’ll go ahead and mark this one as a rumor to be on the safe side.

Between June 14 and June 19, 500 fans will be given the opportunity to play the new Zelda game on Wii U at Nintendo NY. Those who are interested will need to be involved with Super-Fan Signup Day on June 11. The first 500 eligible people in line when Nintendo NY opens at 9 AM ET will receive a wristband that they can exchange for a ticket, guaranteeing them a spot to play the game during selected times June 14 – June 19.

Fans will be invited to watch gameplay from the new Zelda title on June 14 at 12 PM ET, which will be live-streamed from Nintendo’s E3 booth. At 3 PM ET, the first of 500 participants will begin sampling the game for the first time.

On top of that, between June 15 and June 19, Nintendo experts will be on hand to provide guided game-play demonstrations on the big screen. The company says that some fans may have the chance to participate in guided demonstrations. The Legend of Zelda trivia will be hosted as well for a chance for fans to win fun prizes.

Head past the break for the full rundown on Nintendo NY’s Zelda plans.

Atlus has revealed its E3 2016 lineup through the expo’s official website. For Nintendo fans, the big one is Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, which will be at the company’s booth and will probably be making its first playable appearance in English.

The listing states:

ATLUS U.S.A., Inc. is known for high-quality, deeply immersive, uniquely Japanese and indie video game experiences. Our award-winning catalog continues to grow across a variety of genres and platforms. Visit our booth featuring highly anticipated titles from ATLUS and SEGA, including Persona 5, Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, and Yakuza 0.

7th Dragon III Code: VFD isn’t mentioned here, but since it’ll be out after E3, I wouldn’t be surprised if that one shows up as well.

Aside from highlighting the upcoming Zelda game, Nintendo isn’t doing a whole lot at E3 this year. That being said, the company will be hosting a presentation for “business partners that will showcase key launches and programs through Holiday 2016.” Nintendo has conducted similar events in the past.

The presentation will be held on June 14 between 9 AM and 10 AM PT (12 PM ET and 1 PM ET). Keep in mind that it’s unlikely that we’ll be seeing much from this. If nothing else, it’s interesting to see this part of Nintendo’s E3 traditions is still alive!

Update: Here’s an interesting find from reader Andrew:

When you reported on the new Zelda page for the Nintendo @ E3 2016, the link takes you to a site introducing Nintendo’s E3 plans. It also includes two instances of Hylian text. If you go into the page source, these sections (I think) are denoted with HR-Z (which might stand for “Hyrulean Zelda”). The Hylian text just reads “THELEGENDOFZELDATHELEGENDOFZELDATHE” so there’s no additional information, but it might come in handy to build a cipher code in case Nintendo releases any new information on the game that does have the new Hylian language.

Nintendo has opened its official website for E3 2016 following today’s announcement regarding plans for Zelda Wii U. Access it here. There’s not too much there, but it does recap the information shared today.

Disney Interactive is among the latest companies to be pulling away from E3. GamesBeat received confirmation from the publisher that it will not have a booth at this year’s expo in June. Disney will instead opt for “additional direct to fan engagements through the summer this year.”
