We published a review of Corpse Party earlier today. For those that missed it, you can read it here.

Developer: Marvelous
Publisher XSEED Games

Halloween is around the corner ladies and gentlemen, and as far as I’m concerned, there’s no better way (or game) to get you in the spirit of all things creepy and dead than Corpse Party. A series that I love dearly is finally making its way over to 3DS for the western audience to enjoy, and it brings along extra chapters not before seen in any of the previous ports and iterations.

Senran Kagura

This past week, Marvelous announced a new Senran Kagura game known as Peach Beach Splash. It’s not planned for Nintendo platforms, but series creator and producer Kenichiro Takaki remains interested in supporting what the big N brings to the table.

In an interview with DualShockers, Takaki spoke briefly about his interest in NX as well as how he still wants to make a pinball game. You can read his comments on both of those topics below, along with talk about how Nintendo initially reacted to Senran Kagura.

XSEED has pulled back the curtain on a new pre-order bonus for Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns. If you reserve the game, you’ll receive the 3.5-inch capybara pocket plushie pictured above. Select retailers will be carrying the bonus.

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns launches in North America early next year. Take a look at some capybara screenshots below.

In related news, the original Story of Seasons and Rune Factory 4 have been permanently reduced to $30. The two games have sold over 150,000 copies and 200,000 units in North America respectively.

Senran Kagura is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year. A new website is now live here in honor of the occasion.

There have been several titles in the Senran Kagura over the past few years, including three on 3DS. And it sounds like more is planned for next year. After recapping Senran Kagurai’s history, the website states: “and… in 2017 the girls’ battle will continue.”

In 2017, Story of Seasons (otherwise known as Bokujou Monogatari) will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. Marvelous has now opened a special website for its Japanese audience here.

Bokujou Monogatari was previously known as Harvest Moon in the west. However, after Harvest Moon 3D: A New Beginning, the series switched names to Story of Seasons, and was directly handled by Marvelous / XSEED in territories outside of Japan.

Natsume always held the rights to the Harvest Moon name, and started making its own farming titles beginning in 2014 with Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley. The company will also be bringing out Harvest Moon: Skytree Village later this year.

Amazon has posted the North American Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns boxart. Take a look at the packaging shot above.

You can pre-order Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns here. The 20 percent discount is now active, meaning Prime members can save $8.

Earlier this week, Media Create data revealed that Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns sold 100,000 copies in its first week in Japan. Per usual, the sales tracker has now followed up with a report that offers more insight into the title’s debut.

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns sold through 61.29 percent of its initial shipment. It didn’t live up to the original game in both first week sales (131,000 units) and sell-through rate (73.07 percent). On the other hand, retailers have noticed that fans who’ve picked up the game are noticeably in their 30s, so it is suggested that there is a strong core fan base that has loyally followed the series through its 20 years.

Looking at the past 3DS releases of Story of Seasons (total sales 286,000 copies) and Harvest Moon 3D: A New Beginning (287,000 copies), both had managed a stable sales volume. Media Create is therefore observing whether Trio of Towns will be able to keep the same sales volume in the future.

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns is now available in Japan, and players are starting to record footage from the game. View an hour of gameplay below.
