Finger Gun Games is nearly done with the first update for Ohayou! Beginner’s Japanese, but the indie developer has further plans. A new blog post notes that another update will be released to implement off-TV play.
Switch and 3DS versions are both still possibilities for Ohayou! Beginner’s Japanese. Finger Gun Games is interested in Switch specifically, but a 3DS edition could still happen depending on what the future holds for the portable.

Finger Gun Games is currently finishing up the first update (version 1.1) for Ohayou! Beginner’s Japanese. It should be ready either this week or next week in North America and Europe.
The update doesn’t add any new content, but makes some improvements and fixes a couple of issues. You can read the full patch notes below.

Ohayou! Beginner’s Japanese will take up a decent amount of space on your Wii U memory or external hard drive. The download clocks in at 500 MB, which should drop just slightly when actually installed. Look for the Japanese language learning tool on the eShop tomorrow.

Update: We have a release date for the Wii U version in Europe: November 24.
Original: Ohayou! Beginner’s Japanese is heading to the North American Wii U eShop next week. After that, Finger Fun Games has some additional plans for the game.
At some point in the future, Ohayou! Beginner’s Japanese should make its way to both Switch and 3DS. All versions will also be updated with vocabulary, grammar, and kanji.

Ohayou! Beginner’s Japanese is nearly ready to debut on Wii U. According to a listing on the eShop, it will be out on November 17.
Here’s a brief overview:
“Have you always been interested in learning Japanese? Asuka and Kenji are here to help guide you along the path to learning how to read Japanese Hiragana and Katakana. Use digital flash cards to learn how to both write and how to pronounce each character. And when you think you’ve gotten a grasp of the language, you can participate in a memory game of over 60 lessons requiring you to use your finger to ‘cut’ across the matching Hiragana or Katakana. If you get past these lessons, you will surely learn the basics of the Japanese language!”
Ohayou! Beginner’s Japanese will cost $4.99.

Stone Shire developer Finger Gun Games is prepping its next Wii U eShop release. With “Ohayou! Beginner’s Japanese”, the indie developer is making an edutainment download which promises to teach users the basics of Japanese Hiragana and Katakana.
Here’s an overview:
While the instructors Asuka and Kenji give you teachings on the TV screen, the player will use the Wii U GamePad to navigate menus and turn around digital flash cards to give them more details on a chosen Japanese character, such as its romaji relation and a vocal pronunciation of it. When you think you’re ready to test your knowledge, you can then participate in the memory games where you will use your finger like a sword to “cut” across the correct cards that match up with an indicated romaji or vocal sound. Master all thirty tests and you will become a Hiragana Samurai and a Katakana Ninja! Release date will be coming soon!
