Famitsu has published an official report on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s debut sales in Japan. In just three days, the game sold 1,238,358 copies. Digital sales are not included, but units from physical download cards are.

As expected, Smash Bros. Ultimate provided a huge boost to Switch hardware sales last week. Famitsu reports that the system moved 278,313 units. The previous week, Media Create had Switch at 120,546 units sold.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had the best debut for the franchise in Japan, beating out the openings for all previous entries.

Curious as to how much Switch has sold in the UK? Since launch, the console has moved roughly 1.4 million units.

If you’re interested in comparisons, PlayStation 4 has sold six million units in the UK in five years. Xbox One is just under five million.

The UK has been a notoriously tough market for Nintendo to crack in the past. However, we are seeing Switch games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate having their best series debuts in the country.

Thanks to NPD’s Mat Piscatella, we have more classic data concerning the United States. Piscatella offered up his latest list, this time revealing the top 10 best-selling GameCube games of all time.

The lineup is as follows:

Though data isn’t entirely final, early reports indicate that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate may have sold somewhere around 1.3 million copies in its first week in Japan. The information appears to come from Morgan Stanley based on Famitsu-recorded numbers.

We should have final data by Wednesday. If Famitsu’s early number holds up, it would be the largest opening ever for a Nintendo published game in Japan outside of the Pokemon series. Additionally, it would be the best debut for a Smash Bros. game yet.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is already off to a great start in the UK. Not only has it become the fastest-selling entry in the series of all time, but it’s also the fastest-selling Switch game.

Smash Bros. Ultimate had 302% higher launch sales than Smash Bros. for Wii U. It was also 233% higher than Smash Bros. for 3DS. Comparing it to Smash Bros. Brawl, launch sales were also better here by 62.5%. This is without including digital sales of the Switch title.

Media Create reported this week that Persona Q2 sold 80,000 copies in its first week. The sales tracker has since provided additional tidbits about the game’s performance.

Compared to the first game, Persona Q2 didn’t do quite as well. The original managed to sell 187,000 units in its first week. Also, while that title sold through 80.64% of its initial shipment, Persona Q2 sold through 64.54%.

While that may seem a tad disappointing, Persona Q2 did have the best opening week of any 3DS game in Japan this year. It surpassed Etrian Odyssey Nexus’ number of 72,000 copies. Given that the momentum for 3DS hardware is on the downturn and interest has shifted to Switch, Persona Q2 had a decent result in the end.
