Octopath Traveler

Octopath Traveler came out at the tail end of last week, where it did pretty well in the UK.

GamesIndustry reports that launch sales for the Switch RPG are nearly double that of Bravely Default. Sales more than doubled the sequel, Bravely Second.

Death Squared came out one year ago on Switch. During that period, developer SMG Studio says that the game has sold 52,000 copies on Nintendo’s console.

SMG further adds that the team is “making more revenue, a year in, than we did when we launched on the other consoles. And for our first console game happy to say we’re profitable on it, its opened up many other opportunities, we earned new fans, learned a bunch of stuff and made new contacts for future projects.”

Octopath Traveler

It’ll be a few days until we have a truly good idea as to how Octopath Traveler is selling in Japan. When Media Create publishes its next report on Wednesday, first week data for the RPG will be revealed.

We do at least have one encouraging tidbit from Square Enix directly. On the official Twitter account, an apology was posted for the game selling out, which is happening during a three-day weekend. Square Enix recommends considering the digital version to fans who are looking for a copy.

Nintendo Classic Mini Famicom Weekly Shonen Jump 50th Anniversary Edition

Nintendo Classic Mini Famicom Weekly Shonen Jump 50th Anniversary Edition debuted in Japan last Saturday. Thanks to Media Create, we now know how the system performed.

According to the sales tracker, 110,000 units were sold in its first week. Since the reporting period ended on July 8, that means those sales account for only two days.
