Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap

During the German program Game Two, new information was shared about the success of two prominent indie games on Switch. Those are SteamWorld Dig 2 and Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap.

Image & Form’s Brjann Sigurgeirsson didn’t share any specific data for SteamWorld Dig 2. However, he did say that the studio had its biggest launch on Switch. The Switch version sold nearly ten times the amount as the Steam version.

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is another game that has done very well on Switch. According to Lizardcube’s Omar Cornut, 100,000 copies have been sold on Nintendo’s console. Moreover, Switch sales have surpassed the total from all other platforms.

One of the new games that entered the UK charts this past week was L.A. Noire. In terms of individual formats, the Switch version came in at #36. It was also #6 on the Switch-specific chart.

Additional data reveals the sales split for all versions of L.A. Noire. On Switch, 20% of all copies were sold. PS4 took the top share with 51%, followed by Xbox One with 26%.

What can we make of these numbers? Well, Switch wasn’t terribly behind Xbox One’s share. With a lower installed base, perhaps it’s not a terrible debut.

We have another round of data for the debut sales of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon in Japan. This time around, Dengeki has an update.

Sales between the two versions of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon stack up very similarly. According to Dengeki, Ultra Sun sold 340,394 units. Ultra Moon moved 338,618 copies. As you can see, the split is extremely small. The double pack sold another 250,000 copies by the way.

Dengeki also has a specific sell-through number for the 3DS games. The site’s data has Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon selling through 70% of their initial shipment.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon went on sale in Japan last week. Following the initial news about their sales, Media Create provides new information about how the two games performed.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon sold a combined total of about 1,163,000 copies (with counting the double pack as two copies). They sold about 60% of Sun and Moon (which sold about 1,893,000 units in their first week).

Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura debuted on the Japanese Switch eShop on Friday. Since then, it has already raced to the top of the charts, and is currently the most downloaded game. It only took a day or so for that to happen. Since Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura is currently Japan-exclusive and we don’t talk about the Japanese eShop charts a whole lot, it’s interesting to point out.

Another Senran Kagura game, Peach Ball, is also coming to Switch. We don’t know too much about this one yet, other than its genre (pinball) and confirmed support for HD Rumble.
