This week’s issue of Famitsu has a report on the best-selling games in Japan for July. Among the information shared was debut digital sales for two key titles: Splatoon 2 and Dragon Quest XI.

For Splatoon 2, Famitsu reports that the game sold 60,205 copies digitally. Dragon Quest XI sold 62,939 units on 3DS.

We’ll have a full report on the best-selling games in Japan during the month of July later this week.

Sonic Mania didn’t appear on the UK charts. There’s a good reason for that, however. As it technically counts as a digital title, it can’t be counted in the boxed charts.

The good news is that Sonic Mania is doing just fine so far. GamesIndustry reports that, after speaking with SEGA, “if digital downloads were included then its game would have topped the charts by a large margin.”

SEGA may provide sales figures down the road. On Switch at least, Sonic Mania has been topping the eShop charts. It’s held steady at the number one position since launch.

Depending on which sales tracker you go with, Splatoon 2 has sold over one million copies in Japan.

Media Create has total sales at 949,737 units. However, Famitsu indicates that Splatoon 2 has sold 1,013,842. Factoring in digital sales, it should be over one million regardless.

Nintendo confirmed that Splatoon 2 was a global million seller last week. But aside from Japan, we don’t have concrete, official data in any other region. Nintendo also mentioned that players have participated in over 400 million online battles.
