Splatoon 2

Nintendo has revealed a brand new stage coming to Splatoon 2 with version 4.2.0. In just a few days, players will be able to access the Ruins of Ark Polaris.

That won’t be the only new piece of content planned for the next Splatoon 2 update. The third batch of weapons from the Tony Kensa collection will be available as well as the Ultra Stamp special and Torpedo sub.

Nintendo has introduced another new sub weapon for Splatoon 2. Today we have a look at the Torpedo, which we have more details on below – plus a first look in action.


Nintendo has not yet provided an exact date for the Torpedo’s inclusion in Splatoon 2. However, it should go live with next week’s update.

The Reef map in Splatoon 2 is about to be impacted by some downtime. Nintendo announced on Twitter that starting November 1, it’ll be unavailable during online battles. The stage will be closed for some renovating work while the development team plans a revamp.

You should be able to find The Reef in Splatoon 2’s map rotation once everything is completed on November 7.

Nintendo isn’t quite done yet with adding new content to Splatoon 2. Next week, on November 6th/7th (depending on your timezone), the game will be updated to version 4.2.0. One of the things to be added with this version is a new Special Weapon, the Ultra Stamp (a literal translation of its Japanese name, it might have a different English name). When using this weapon, you move forward while repeatedly striking the ground – this even protects you from attacks from the front to a certain extent; however you are vulnerable to attacks from behind. You can also rotate the weapon vertically and use it in the air by pressing the ZR button. You can also throw it by pressing the R button, but this ends the use of the Special Weapon. The next Japanese Splatfest in Splatoon 2 has been announced, and it’s another promotional tie-in. This time, the topic of debate is Pocky, the popular candy. The two teams are Chocolate and Gokuboso (also chocolate-flavored, but thinner than regular Pocky). The Splatfest will take place from November 10, 3PM JST till November 11, 3PM JST.

This weekend, Nintendo hosted a special Halloween-themed event in Splatoon 2. The big highlight was a new Splatfest, which was held worldwide.

The topic was the same in all regions. Players were asked to be on either Team Trick or Team Treat. After two days of battles, Nintendo has shared the full results.

The Octoling amiibo for Splatoon 2 will launch on November 9 in Japan and in Europe and on December 7 in North America. Today, Nintendo revealed the special gear you will be able to get with these amiibo.
