The new Salmon Run mode in Splatoon 2 can be played locally at any time with friends. Online, however, is another story. Nintendo has set times in place throughout the week when the mode is available.

As part of a chat with Rolling Stone, designer Jordan Amaro (a rare western developer working at Nintendo in Japan) commented on why Salmon Run isn’t always playable online. Here’s what he had to say about the subject:

I’m not allowed to speak on it, because I’m not the game director. What I can say, and what I think can be said, is that there are lots of reasons. You have to trust us that if you could play Salmon Run online anytime, that would result in a worse experience for you and everybody.

As it tends to do with Splatfests, Nintendo has published special art for the upcoming McDonald’s-themed Japanese event in Splatoon 2 this weekend. French fries will be going up against chicken nuggets. Check out the new art above.

It should go without saying that this information will have some gameplay spoilers so dodge the info below and the video if you want a pure Splatoon 2 experience. However, there is also some information on some scrapped content from the game as well, which could be interesting for those of you that want to know what may have been potentially cut out (but at the same time this stuff could also come back later through another update).

GameXplain has compiled a video of recent dataminers’ findings on Splatoon 2, which you can check out below. Or if you’d like a quick synopsis you can read it below the video.

The second Splatfest in Splatoon 2 has concluded, and the results are in. Which side prevailed? Was it Team Flight or Team Invisibility?

It was a contested battle all the way around. Team Invisibility had a slight edge in popularity by just 1 percent. As for battles, Team Flight led the way by just a few percentage points. The final result was 2 points for Team Flight and 1 point for Team Invisibility.

Nintendo ended up pooling the results between the North American and European Splatfests together this time around. Next weekend, Japan will have its own McDonald’s-themed Splatfest in which players will choose between fries and chicken nuggets.
