Super Mario Maker has added two new costumes. Players can nab both Callie and Marie from Super Mario Maker after completing the “Squid Sisters vs. Bloopers” Event Course twice.

Here’s an overview of the level:

“Urgent report from the Squid Research Lab! The Squid Sisters have been spotted in the world of Super Mario Maker, and the local squids don’t seem to be giving them a very warm welcome! It’s up to Callie and Marie to show those Blooper bullies that the new squids on the block aren’t about to be messed with. May the freshest squid win!”

Are you having trouble finding worthwhile Super Mario Maker levels? Then a newly opened section of the game’s Japanese website may interest you.

The Super Mario Maker Course Selection area can be accessed here. On the page, Nintendo developers have selected levels and divided them up into categories.

Nintendo is also holding a contest of sorts to create a Super Mario Maker level with certain themes. These are:

1. A course that uses P-Switches/P-Doors in an interesting way
2. A course with a summer theme (makes you feel like you’re in summer)
3. A course that uses the phone audio block well

The deadline for the event is on August 8.

The Squid Sisters, Callie and Marie, will be getting costumes in Super Mario Maker next week, on July 8th. A special event course will be available, and players will have to beat it twice to get each costume. With the Sisters’ amiibo releasing, it is possible that scanning them will unlock the costumes as well, although this has not been confirmed. You can watch a video of the course and the costumes below:

The Super Mario Maker Bookmark will be down for maintenance early next week. The site will be unavailable for about two hours on Monday (early Tuesday for those in Europe).

Here’s the maintenance schedule:

– 5 PM PT (July 4) – 7 PM PT (July 4)
– 8 PM ET (July 4) – 10 PM ET (July 4)
– 1 AM in the UK (July 5) – 3 AM in the UK (July 5)
– 2 AM in Europe (July 5) – 4 AM in Europe (July 5)

Awhile back, Nintendo put up a Japanese page which allowed visitors to make their own Super Mario Maker wallpapers. The same site is now up in English here. It supports wallpaper creation for both desktops and smartphones.

A notice on Nintendo’s website notes that the Japanese Super Mario Maker Wii U bundle will soon be discontinued. A specific date isn’t mentioned, but it’ll be on the way out soon. Once retailers sell their remaining stock, that’ll be it.

Consumers will still have two options left if they’re interested in picking up a Wii U. They’ll be able to buy a standard system, or the new Splatoon bundle.
